It hasn't been the best of weeks for Cardinals' quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Sunday, he left Arizona's 19-16 loss to Buffalo late in the fourth quarter after falling awkwardly on his ribs and sternum.

Tuesday, it was announced the second-year starter would miss multiple weeks after an MRI revealed that during his awkward fall, not only were multiple ribs detached from his sternum, but he also suffered a sprained sternoclavicular joint in his chest area.

As if his second prolonged absence from the field in as many years -- suffered a concussion against San Francisco on Dec. 4 -- wasn't enough, USA Today didn't mind adding insult to injury Friday.

The national daily newspaper revealed their annual ranking of the most overpaid athletes , and not surprisingly the sixth-year pro found himself on the list.

Kevin Kolb, QB, Arizona Cardinals -- Under contract until: 2016 -- Signed five-year, $65 million deal in 2011. Some bad deals you can't see coming. This was not one of them.

Kolb was acquired back in July 2011, when the Cardinals sent a 2nd round draft pick and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the Eagles. In Philadelphia, Kolb had only seven career starts to his name to go along with 2,082 yards passing, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

During his short stint with the Cardinals, Kolb has started 14 of 22 games, while throwing 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Joining Kolb on USA Today's overpaid list are former teammate Michael Vick, former Sun Amar'e Stoudemire, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Sanchez, Barry Zito, Andre Biedrins, Dennis Wideman, Wade Redden, Mario Williams and Alfonso Soriano.

    No Doubt
Dude is overpaid, he is second tier QB at best, but in a league where you have to make move quickly the cards back was against the wall. We couldn't go into the season with Max Hall and only 2nd year player Skelton. This happens all the time, look at Flynn, 30 mil from the seahawks and he is riding the pine.

    Kolb
Kolb might have been over paid but he was still the Cardinals best chance at winning. If the Cardinals would have done more with the O-line we would be at 6-0. Kolb is a very good QB but unfortunately the Cardinals may have ruined his chance to be a starter again in the NFL. I don't think he will be back and if not this will be a big mistake for the Cardinals and ALL on them.

    Overpaid Is An Understatement
Very Good Quarterback In My Dreams. I Wish Him And His Family The Best In Life But Please Dont Return From Your Ranch In Texas. At That Price We Could Do So Much Better. We Fell Way Victim On This One. Time To Free Up Some Cash And Make Another Splash!

    Kevin Kolb
How much would he be worth if he was still healthy because of "decent offensive line" instead of the "worst offensive line" in the NFL today. If that is the case, we would be going to the playoffs after a 4 & 0 start. John Elway could not have done better with this disastrous offensive line and would also have been injured today. It is a death sentence for any quarterback to be sent to the Cardinals at this point in time and it could be career ending due to injury.

    Thank you Captain Hindsight
What a crock, suuuuurrre you saw it coming USA Today. Pu-lease, everyone wants to forget what the climate was like for the Cards when we signed Kolb. Larry was up for a new contract and just about every "expert" agreed that the Cards weren't going to stand much of a chance resigning him without a franchise QB. At the time, Kolb was the best bet for a long term solution. It absolutely sucks that it hasn't worked out thus far but that's football.

    Great Points SpaceRig
It Is What It Is At This Point, I Personally Dont Think Bringing Him Back At His Price Tag Would Be A Great Idea At This Point Moving Forward. Next Season At His Price Tag He'll Be Getting Paid More Than Andrew Luck And RG3 Combined Therefore Leaving The Obvious We Can Do Much Better With This New CBA. Idk If StL Would Have Allowed Him In The Division But That RG3 Trade Would Have Worked Out Great In Our Favor Right About Now!

I realize that "CardzGoHard" is only a 5th grader, BUT, he/she should still know by now how to type without Caps, BUT, what can you say about a 5th grader..... I personally was "not" a Kevin Kolb fan at the beginning of the season, BUT, I kept telling myself to give him a chance ~ the man proved to me that he can play and take some "very hard/serious hits"!!! "IF" he had some/any protection "at all", he would still be playing today, AND, very possibly, we would be at 6-0 and not 4-2!! I can only hope & pray, that John Skelton & Ryan Lindley, will not be decimated on the field.

Dude Didnt Even Get Hit The Weenie Tried To Avoid A Hit Went Down On His Own And So Went His Arizona Career. Idk What You Watch But He Lost His Job Last Year Cuz He Couldnt Take A Hit Jus Because He Survived Close To 30 Sacks Dont Make Him Durarble Or Tough He Is A Cuncussion Waiting To Happen. Even Turf Toe Last Season Lol Now This. Im Proud For Him And Whats Hes Done This Season Compared To Last Season And The Pre Season But That 4-0 6-0 Talk Is Garbage. We Could Easily Be 1-5. EASILY

Agreed, but he's had a string of bad luck..
since he's been here. I think Skeltons performance from this point will determine if Kolb returns next season. No way AZ keeps him at his current pricetag next season. Durability has not been proven and it would been risky for AZ to still keep him as their long term QB. He's shown he can be a solid QB, but he just cannot stay on the field. It seems like injuries are going to always leave that question mark on if Kolb can be a franchise QB, let alone the long term answer for this team. And the clock is ticking. It is not looking like so right now....
