The Arizona Cardinals, at 4-4, are not out of the playoff picture. However, they do have plenty of holes on the roster, and reaching the postseason would be easier if some of them were filled.

With the NFL's trade deadline pushed to Thursday due to Hurricane Sandy, the Cardinals will have more time to make a deal if they so choose.

"Well we're looking; we're always looking for ways to help this team, we always have been," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said Tuesday. "If there's something available...if we had an opportunity to get somebody that we think can help us, we certainly would try to do that."

Sports Illustrated's Peter King is reporting the Cardinals have interest in Ravens tackle Bryant McKinnie.

Could Bryant McKinnie be the answer for someone? McKinnie's the odd man out in the Baltimore tackle rotation (Michael Oher's taken his old left tackle job, with Iowa State rookie Kelechi Osemele now the right tackle. McKinnie played but 23 offensive snaps in the last three Ravens game. But he'd be a good temporary Band-Aid for the reeling Cardinals, who I hear have some interest in him. They should. Their two starting tackles are the lowest-rated tackles in the NFL, according to ProFootballFocus.com, which has Bobby Massie and D'Anthony Batiste blamed for the incredible total of 25 sacks and 74 quarterback hits or hurries -- in eight games!

While the Cardinals may have interest in the 33-year-old, it's worth remembering that big-time trades in the NFL are rare, and if a deal is struck it will likely cost the Cardinals a draft pick or two.

While not referring to the McKinnie rumor or any other specific deal, Whisenhunt said it is difficult to part with picks.

"We've done so well with our draft picks over the last couple of years and we've built a good core group of young guys that you want to continue to build to that," Whisenhunt said. "That's how you have success in this league."

    trade
give them a defender - maybe stewart bradley? Their D hasnt been up to its usual par and we have some linebackers sitting there not getting much run.

    NO WAY
McKinnie is talented but is he worth the trouble that he's always in? He's probably more trouble than he’s worth. He's also 33 or 34 years old so giving up a draft pick would be foolish to me.

    Stop it.
You're kidding right? Peter wants to discuss the Cards getting another cast off from another team that lost his starting job. Stupid is as Stupid does, Forrest. The only trade that makes sense, includes starting LTs that will be FA's at the end of the year. Two biggies are Long and Bushrod - they make sense for a trade. And/Or QBs Palmer/Rivers. On the other hand, McKinnie would be another typical and equally stupid AZ Cards move. Please quit supporting the Cardinals marketing engine.

    Fatdog is crazy
Blow up the offense? Are you crazy? We need help on the o-line and at QB. Fitz is the best thing we have. You don't get rid of your heart.

I would kill to have another teams castoff. In all honesty, if we cut Batiste right now, NO ONE would pick him up. At least McKinnie is good enough to be on a team.

    I would make the trade
I would give up a 4th round pick or a 6th round pick and a role player (Bradley since Lewis is out). McKinnie would be a good fill in starter and would be a great backup tackle for future years if he stayed with AZ. I would keep Massie at RT since he is playing just as bad as Batiste, but mostly because he is a rookie and he will get better. 2013 draft I would take the best OT in the first 2 rounds and the best OG in the 3rd round. Kolb has played well this season and probably would stay healthy with a better O-line. Restructure Kolb's contract.
