Arizona Sports (KTAR 620-AM) has confirmed there was an on-field incident between Darnell Dockett and Kerry Rhodes towards the end of the game Sunday, and it will likely lead to the disciplinary action being taken towards the defensive lineman.

When asked about the matter on Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt would not divulge much information.

"We generally prefer to keep internal matters like that within the team and not discuss them publicly," he said. "I think we're going to continue to do that going forward."

Sources close to the situation say that Dockett reportedly spit in Rhodes' face late in the game as the Jets were nearing the Cardinals' goal line.

The same sources indicate that Dockett could be facing a one-game suspension without pay for his part in the incident.

Tuesday morning, Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com wrote a blog post including a quote from Rhodes who says Dockett didn't spit in his face, but there was an incident.

Rhodes was arguably the best defensive player in the game, collecting a pair of interceptions and a forced fumble to go along with six tackles.

Why didn't he pull QB Ryan Lindley from last night's game against the Jets? Will Darnell Dockett be disciplined for the alleged scuffle with Kerry Rhodes? What is his focus right now and going forward?
Dockett was credited with four tackles and half a sack.

The Cardinals lost the game to the New York Jets by a score of 7-6. It is Arizona's eighth-straight loss following four consecutive wins to begin the season.

See! That's how pressured this defense gets into feeling because the offense sucks so bad. They even had a very good day. DD or KR did something on McElroy's game-winning drive that allowed The Jets to score and one of them is getting at the other for it. That, wouldn't surprise me. Or, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they were having fun (cuz the D did a very good job) and were playing around and started horse-playing on the sidelines towards the end of the game, maybe...

    Good!
At least there's some life on one side of the ball. I'm surprised there was only one incident. These are two guys in the prime of their carriers watching what could have been a special season go to crap. Arizona has arguably never had a better defense, and, of course, it happens the same year Arizona has never had a worse offense. I can understand the frustration

    What should have happened.
They should have kicked Whiz's but across the field and told him not to come back.

    Sign Nick Davilla now
how is it that other players/teams even bad teams make it look so easy but the cards make playing offense look so hard. Is it the coaches put the players in a position to fail? Bring in Davilla it cant hurt.

    this is what happened...
Dockett spat in Rhodes face. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter, with the Cardinals trailing 7-6 and the Jets driving. The Cardinals’ defense planned to let the Jets score a touchdown, which would have stretched the lead (with the extra point) to 14-6, but, would have given the Cardinals the ball back with a chance to force overtime. The only problem? Dockett didn’t want to let the Jets score. And so he resisted. And he resisted. And eventually, as Rhodes was trying to persuade Dockett to go along, Dockett let his saliva do the talking.” LOL. Sounds like Dockett behavior
