The Arizona Cardinals have parted ways with veteran tight end Todd Heap.

Heap has been bothered by a knee injury suffered in Week 2 in a win over the New England Patriots and hasn't played since.

In two games this season, Heap caught eight passes for 94 yards. In his injury-plagued two-season stint with Arizona, Heap had 32 receptions for 377 yards and and one touchdown in only 12 games.

The veteran from Mesa Mountain View High School and Arizona State University has 499 catches for 5,869 yards and 42 touchdowns in his 12-year career.

Heap will be replaced on the roster by tight end Kory Sperry, who the Cardinals signed Tuesday. Sperry spent the last two seasons with the San Diego Chargers but was released following training camp in August.

    Heap
Id wager this was a move to let Heap try and latch onto a playoff team if he is healthy enough. No point in him coming back to us now if his contract is up at the end of the year. Give the reps to Housler and see if he is the future. Truly disappointed Heap never materialized into a top option for us, injuries really held him down

    So Long, Golden Retreiver
It really is a shame that he couldn't produce for the Cards, due mostly to injuries, but as Mad Man says, perhaps he can now hook up with a team that will be making the playoffs and he help them out. Good luck Todd... it was fun listening to the fans yell "Heeeeeeeap" whenever you caught a pass.
