Kevin Kolb's career as an Arizona Cardinal has been rather turbulent.

Acquired by the team prior to the 2011 season, he has struggled with consistency and injuries, and even lost the starting job coming into the 2012 season.

However, the 28-year-old played well in relief of an injured John Skelton, leading some to believe he still could be the team's answer at the quarterback position.

Others feel the team should part ways with the signal caller, as it would not be wise to rely on a player who can't seem to stay on the field.

"Yeah, sure you bring Kevin back," ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Thursday. "I think he's a seasoned guy that has value."

Kolb has played in 15 games for the Cardinals over two seasons -- with 14 starts -- throwing for 3,124 yards to go along with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

listen Listen: Ron Jaworski, ESPN NFL Analyst
Ron Jaworski comes on to talk about an eventful week in the NFL. Jaws tells us truly how painful it was watching the Cardinals vs. Jets game. Jaws tells us what the Jets did against the Cardinals that confused Ryan Lindley on Sunday. And, what position does Jaws say is the most important position on the team? And, Jaws says the Jets and Rex Ryan are making a mistake in going with Mark Sanchez Sunday. Why does he say Sanchez should have been benched for one more game?
However, Jaworski noted whether Kolb is back or not, the Cardinals need to make sure they find a way to get their quarterback of not only the present, but future as well.

That may mean selecting one in the draft.

"Clearly, looking down the road the Cardinals can't get someone else's retread, someone else's discard," Jaworski said. "They've got to get a quarterback that they fall in love with, that they're going to coach up, and he's going to be their quarterback for the next decade."

    Absolutely
Restructure Kolb's deal, draft a QB early (rds 1-3), keep Lindley as #3, let Skelton move on. Only deviation from this would be if Skelton really shows a lot of improvement these next few games - in that case, keep Kolb, keep Skelton as backup, draft QB, drop Lindley.

    Kolb is too injury prone
and he's a backup at best. Only keep him if he restructures his contract. They have to get rid of whiz if they want to coach up a QB taken from the draft. Whiz has a history of being a QB killer all the way back to his time with roethlisberger. There are reports that whiz and big ben didn't see eye to eye on the offense in pittsburgh.

Skelton, we can't lose the savior!!!!
What a joke, remember he won all those games, remember his quick release. (I hope you understand the sarcasm). Now all the "fans" that were on Skelton's junk like a teenage girl act like they never liked him anyway. I hope the cardinals (won't happen) win the last 4 games so we can see everyone change their story again, and talk about how Whiz turned it around, and how the line came together. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    I agree
This would be a wise way to go. Sometimes, I think those who are in this town are too close to the situation... Kolb looked decent when he was playing. I do think they need to grab a franchise guy in the 1st rd this offseason though... Kolb definitely needs to restructure to stay though, and I imagine he might be willing to, as long as Whiz is still here too. Not sure he'd be inclined if he had to learn another system.

    Draft
I agree with drafting a QB in the top rounds. We cant risk trying to pick up a guy in the latter rounds and develop him. As far as having a rookie, I still think the OC needs to go. I dont know too much about the QB coach, but wouldnt it be great if Warner could be enticed to become the OC or QB coach or some kind of consultant? Ive seen the people starting those rumors - no idea if he would have any interest

    The problem with Warner is..
it's rare that a great player is a great coach and has success. It's not b/c he doesn't know what he's talking about it's b/c former great players think everyone should live up to their expectations and they are too close to position they formally dominated. It almost never works. Good players often make great coaches, not so much the other way around.

I screwed up my last sentence
My point is "those who can't play, teach". They often understand a sport much differently than a highly naturally gifted athlete does as they had to use their brains and make the best of the situations to even play college or a few years in the nfl.

Kolb should come back next year as starter....
I agree that a QB should be taken maybe 2nd or 3rd round. Not because Kolb lacks the play, but because he's not durable. Given that they will have a high 1st pick this year, I still think you go Oline and make that the priority in free agency. Look, Kolb is not elite, but he's a B quarterback at best who can be solid in a more balanced offense (decent run game, and by god better play calling). Had the Oline played stronger this year, I think this offense would have been a whole lot better

Wishful thinking but if they really
think Kolb can be the guy, maybe look into bringing in Andy Reid. He drafted Kolb, knows him best, and could build the offense to best suit his strengths. After all, Philly's offense was better suited for him than AZ. The type of offense that is run here is for guys with the number 13 named Kurt Warner...Hey, just a crazy thought

    9,000,000- plus for a backup?
Are we going to pay that much for a part time backup (Kolb) ?
