Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton figures to be a fairly hot commodity with regards to head coaching jobs this offseason.

Horton, who interviewed for the St. Louis Rams opening last offseason before the team hired Jeff Fisher, is credited for transforming Arizona's defense from one of the worst units in the league to one of the best.

So it stands to reason at least a few teams with openings will take a look at Horton.

A guest of Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Thursday, Horton said an interview like the one he had with the Rams is valuable for for both sides.

listen Listen: Ray Horton, AZ Cardinals' Defensive Coordinator
To what does he contribute this season's stellar defensive perfomance? What does he really think of Patrick Peterson? How is he preparing for the Bears?
"I think both sides learn something," he said, noting how you learn about the team you're interviewing with while they learn about your philosophies. "I think, probably, it's a win-win for everybody involved.

"They get a little exposure, I get a little exposure, so I think both sides probably should ask poignant questions."

In his contract whiz has final say in what players are brought to the team graves is just there to work out the deals, they gave him too much personnel power, he cant evaluate talent thats a given or develop but whiz is the one calling the shots for personnel being signed, limit his power or send whiz packing

    Question?
Why does Whiz get all the blame for bad signings on offense but none of the credit for the absolutely amazing wealth of talent we've accumulated on defense. Yes, Horton is great at making that talent shine, but you've gotta have the players to work with. Also, why does whiz seem to get so much of the blame for Mike Millers scheme's (or for promoting Miller) but so little for hiring Horton?

    And while I'm at it
Why are so many people certain Horton will be a good HC just because he's an amazing DC. People seem to forget that Mike Miller was an AMAZING receivers coach before his promotion to OC. He had a huge hand in developing the wealth of talent we've had at reciever since 2007, including Breaston and fitz (he coached boldin as well but he was already pretty well established before Miller). Unfortunately, being great at developing recievers did not make him a great OC. I know its unlikely but I really feel we need to throw the world at Horton to stay as a DC, not make him HC.
