Speculation about a potential shakeup within the Arizona Cardinals organization is running rampant, with reports here and here, among other places.

One of the questions people ask, though, is if the Cardinals do indeed fire their coach of the last six seasons, who will they get to replace him?

Sports Illustrated's Don Banks wrote that Arizona's "collapse after a 4-0 start this season is expected to lead to head coach Ken Whisenhunt and the team parting ways," while also noting that general manager Rod Graves is not expected to retain his role.

But it's who he speculates could come to the Valley that's interesting.

The Cardinals could choose to pursue Reid as their next head coach, and Reid probably has Arizona on the list of clubs he's most interested in. After all, he would be reunited with quarterback Kevin Kolb, the former Eagle who was dealt to Arizona in 2011, and there is talent on the defensive side of the Cardinals' roster.

But again, Reid's salary level might deter Arizona. Plus, the Cardinals have gone that route before, hiring big-name former playoff-qualifying head coaches a couple times in the relatively recent past, without great results (see Buddy Ryan and Dennis Green).

Banks goes on to note the Cardinals may just decide to promote defensive coordinator Ray Horton to the head coach role while making vice president/player personnel Steve Keim the new general manager.

But it's the point about Reid that is most interesting.

The current Eagles coach has spent the last 14 seasons in Philadelphia, posting a 130-92-1 mark. His teams have posted a 19-10 postseason record, and reached Super Bowl XXXIX in 2004.

He wouldn't come cheap, though, and the Eagles' struggles over the last couple seasons have put a damper on the 54-year-old's résumé.

Why do people continue to talk about "cheap"?
Whiz was one of the higher paid coaches in the league, and the Cards have handed out some huge contracts to players over the past 5 years. Mike Bidwill is in charge now, folks, and this ain't your daddy's Cardinals with regards to $$$.

They need to get rid of
Graves and all of his scouts. They shouldn't promote someone who worked under Graves because they are groomed in his ways. They need to go in a new direction as far as GM and Scouts are concerned because Graves, his personnel advisors, and his Scouts are a big part of the reason we're in this mess. Andy Reid as HC? NO! I'd hire him as OC but not as HC. Look at the disaster he created in PHI personnel wise!!! He should not have control of the hiring and firing of coaches or players right now. He should be hired to do his specialy Cooridinating a Offense.

See how you would try to manage a season with your son passing. I'd let Reid finish his contract.

Horton should be the top choice
Why is Andy available? Oh, that's right, cause he failed in Philly. Dump your lousy GM, head coach, and all of your offensive coaches. Hire Horton, get a decent GM, and go after a recently fired head coach that made his way to the top offensively to rebuild the offense. Then, you have to figure out how to build the offensive line, find a QB, and get a 240+ running back.

There was NO COLLAPSE after 4 games
Look at the teams the Cardinals beat early... The only one of caliber was the NE Patriots... and they should have lost that game on the missed field goal at the end of regulation. Look at the schedule and the teams they played. They lost to who we knew the should. The mostly beat who we knew they should. (They did lie down in one or two games... turds).

Fire the GM, get Nor Turner as OC, then make Horton head coach problem solved. Then find Tyler Wilson in the draft, get a Left tackle in the second round, AND GET MONTE BALL! Ball is one of the best in RB if not the best. And he is healthy! That's a no brainer. If the Cards do this we will be amazing!

Dude you don't know what you're talking about. Steve Keim is one of the most respected GM's in waiting. Just because he's under Rod Graves now doesn't mean he'll make the same mistakes. And Andy Reid is one of the best in the league, they're just changing directions, it doesn't mean he's a bad HC. Get with it.

    good coach...bad coach
Kent Whisenhunt is a good coach, but he is not a building type coach(e.g. Joe Gibbs, Bill Parcels, Bill Cowher.) He is more of tune-up type coach, that needs to have pieces in place to be successful (e.g. Jimmy Johnson, Sean Payton.)Like all coaches he has good characteristics (excellent motivator, uncanny prescence in the locker room). His bad characteristics (stubborn, To much eago, My way or the high way mentality.)which can negativley affect a team. Look for Whisenhunt to re-surface in San Diego with the prescence of Philip Rivers and some other pieces might become successful.
