After a promising 4-0 start, the Arizona Cardinals finished 5-11 in 2012, prompting changes in the organization.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team fired general manager Rod Graves Monday.

Graves has been with the Cardinals organization since 1997 and has held the post of general manager since 2003 when he replaced Bob Ferguson.

Graves was one of six African American general managers in the league before his departure.

This season, the Cardinals became the first team in NFL history to start a season 4-0 and finish 5-11.

Numerous reports indicate that Steve Keim, the Cardinals' vice president of player personnel, is a strong candidate to take over the GM post. Keim has been rumored for other general manager openings, including Cleveland, where the Browns fired Tom Heckert Monday morning.

Talk about lack of action from the Cards GM - too many missed opportunities in the draft (picking Floyd over an obvious need at Offensive Tackle) and free agency. also, when other teams would have shored up the back-up QB or RB positions, Graves did nothing. Now it time for the team to give him nothing - that's the Golden Rule, right!?

    So
Whiz has final say on the roster, it would only make sense to let Whiz go, too. You don't want your incoming GM to be powerless. Hopefully the Cards look outside of the organization to fill the GM spot. Not convinced that there is an internal solution.

    Not Sure..
I dont believe Rod Graves was the problem. He's not in charge of developing players. Had some good draft picks especially on Defense, I could understand if both offense and defense were bad., but thats the NFL.

Im not convinced there is a internal solution to replace Graves. Horton is the only internal solution to replace Whiz! I wonder if He'd be open to staying as DC so they can seriously try to get Jon Gruden here??? I like Gruden because he has won the SB as a HC with Brad Johnson as his QB (who's Brad Johnson?). He played his former team (Oakland Raiders) in that Superbowl. So he definately has the experience and success building Superbowl caliber teams with not so elite QB's (Gannon and Johnson).

    Time for a new chapter
Steve Keim + Ray Horton already begins to sound like a new chapter in Cardinals history. Look how quickly the niners and seahawks turned it around with the right culture, QB and D. We have the right guy in Horton and D - just gotta find that QB and lock down the line in the draft. Things change quickly in the NFL. Bidwell is doing the right thing. Lets see if he follows through.

    New GM
I know that the Cards might want to hire and promote from with in the organization, but any chance they make a move for Bill Polian? I believe this man can take this organization to great heights!!!!

Keim has been key in selecting players & leading scouting dept for many years. Just saying. Floyd was a good choice to open things for Fitz, but given Roberts' development, Cards should've probably taken OL. Graves has signed Whiz's guys faster than ever, too bad they weren't coached up properly. Blueprint:1)Hire Horton 3 yrs @ $3 mil per w/incentives & rollover 2)Hire Butler from Steelers as DC 3)Hire good OC & real coaches! 4)draft Chaparral HS OT Lewan, move Levi to RT 5)get Kolb ready for 2013 -he's proven he can play. Sign V Young, keep Hoyer, & draft QB in rds 2-4 6)hire me (lol)!
