Just hours after the Arizona Cardinals announced that they had fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt and general manager Rod Graves, names started surfacing for the job openings.

At a Monday press conference, Cardinals president Michael Bidwill confirmed three candidates that will be interviewed for the head coaching position: Arizona defensive coordinator Ray Horton, Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, who was also fired Monday morning.

The news of McCoy's interview was broken earlier in the day by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"We've reached out to Mike McCoy and I'll be speaking to him in the next several days," Bidwill said. "I've also reached out and gotten permission to speak with Andy Reid, so we'll be speaking to Coach Reid in the next few days as well."

Reid coached 14 years in Philadelphia, racking up a .583 winning percentage, guiding the Eagles to five NFC Championship games and one trip to the Super Bowl.

But after the Eagles spent big money in free agency prior to the 2011 season, expectations galore were heaped on the team and they failed to respond. Philly went 12-20 over the next two seasons which led to Reid's departure.

Bidwill failed to give any other names that are being considered by the Cardinals at this point.

"There will be further updates, I'm sure, as we get through the next couple days. We are dealing with the holiday and some of the other limitations such as playoffs and things along those lines," Bidwill said.

    Not very often
Don't get coaches like Andy Reid knocking on your door too often. If he could work with the GM it might work.

I wouldnt lose Horton for Reid
I would lose Horton for guys like Gruden, Dungy, or Cowher. I would be upset to lose Horton for Reid. PHI let Reid throw the bank at guys and he couldnt get it together. Mentally, I dont think Reid is ready to be a HC.

    Reid
Andy Reid is the most proven and best coach available. I also really like Haley. People forget that he reinvented the offense for Warner to succeed, not Whiz. Not happy about the firing, but it happened and there's nothing I can do. Best of luck to Whiz in the future, I"m sure he'll be rehired within the month.

    Stupid not to interview Reid!
I am not saying Horton would not be a good hire but not interviewing Reid would be just plain unintelligent! Reid has had a so-so year and a nightmare back to back and a whole lot of success prior. He has had to deal with death of his son, Mike Vick, an unhappy wide receiver and an unhappy fan base. A fresh start is just what this talented coach needs, and he is better than anybody they have had previously.

    WONT HAPPEN
This is a smoke screen for the fans just like Peyton Manning. Horton will be hired and the Cruds will be looking for another HC in three years. Firing KW was a mistake. Look for KW in Chicago he will rock there!

It's kind of funny how Bidwell said in his press conference that they havn't gave up on Kolb yet and how they can turn him into the future QB for the AZ Cardinals ..... AND NOW COMES THE ANDY REID INTERVIEW. As everyone knows I'm a Kolb supporter and I'm happy to hear Bidwell say this. We'll see what Reid really thinks of Kolb now because I don't think he will go any where unless they have a good QB

Definitely want Horton for several reasons
but I'll give Mike Bidwell credit. He's going after some top names and not shying away. My only problem with firing Whiz is if we didn't hire a respected coach. So far, it looks positive.

    Reib and Colb
I know Kevin Kolb has lot of health issues, but he and Andy Reid go back quite a ways, so that connection may convince Reid to come here. He's a great coach, so whatever his reason may be for wanting to come here, if it happens, I'll take it.

    Time for Reid
to put his money where his mouth his. He was Kolb's biggest fan when he was trying to fleece the Cardinals. If he believes in Kolb so much, let's see if he's willing to team with him again in AZ.

Andy Reid as Head Coach - Cardinals are you CRAZY?
Formerly living in Philadelphia, Arizona would be out of their minds to hire this guy. He is the worst coach in all of the NFL. If the Cardinals want to see many, many, many empty seats in their stadium, then make the stupid mistake of hiring Andy Reid. HE STINKS!!!!!!!
