With the Denver Broncos eliminated from the playoffs, the battle to hire offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is likely to pick up some steam.

McCoy, who is arguably the hottest name on the market with regards to becoming some team's next head coach, has already interviewed with the Cardinals, Bears and Eagles, and is scheduled to meet with the Charges Monday.

According to FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Cards want to chat with him again Tuesday.

Last week ESPN NFL insider John Clayton said McCoy was the "leader in the clubhouse" for the Arizona job, and the fact that they want him for a second interview would lend credibility to that claim.

However, with other teams at least interested in the coach -- most of which have better quarterbacks than the Cardinals have to offer -- their chances of landing him remain very much up in the air.

    to become our next Head Coach. Unless, of course, any other team in the NFL makes him a similar offer.

    I believe have the advantage over us in the fact that they have franchise QB's. Other than that, our D is a major strength & we just need some serious changed offensively but we can be right in the mix next season.

    But you're right, the last sentence in the story above says it: "...most of which (other teams) have better quarterbacks than the Cardinals have to offer." So all things being equal, he'll probably go to one of those other teams.

    Don't get the McCoy love. If we are going to deal with Bradford,Wilson and Kap the next several years. I'd rather have Ray stop them than try to outscore them.

    Horton is still under contract for another year. If we don't promote him to HC, and he doesn't get a HC job elsewhere (which seems likely to not happen), then he's ours regardless of who the HC is. In regards to the QB position, I wouldn't mind seeing Alex Smith come here. He's definitely got an axe to grind with SF, and what better way to get back at them than to sign with the enemy and see them twice a year.

    He will go there... the NFC west is BRUTAL right now. The rams will probably be improved with Fisher getting a healthy bradford for a year under his belt. Plus getting the right QB could happen in the next 3 months or 3 years.... or 3 decades.

    Horton is under contract for a year. Which means we would probably only have him.... ONE YEAR. You are not going to have a McCoy Horton combo for the future. You are not keeping horton if you dont make him the head coach. I agree with Hummer. Turn this D into a juggernaut with Horton.

    Everyone is saying, including me, that you give Ray Horton the HC job and hire a strong OC to balance. Who do you look for to replace Horton as DC?

    This moron called a run play on 3-7 and pretty much lost the game for the Broncos! DONT COME HERE WE DONT WANT YOU! The whole team wants Horton! Throw the guy a friggin bone and lets get on with it.

    that play came from John Fox not Mckoy and Peyton has already confirmed that, now wether it is a cover up who knows, but both those bad decision to not attack at end of half and that 3rd and 7 was overrided by Fox, he has always been conservative. But Mckoy would be a good fit only if they exstend Horton and make him the highest paid DC in the game, make it worth it, otherwise they should hire him as HC and get norve turner before cleveland gets him.
