Reports on Monday indicated that the Arizona Cardinals wanted to interview Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy for a second time.

Not so fast.

It appears the Cardinals will not get a second chance to talk with McCoy.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Tuesday the San Diego Chargers, who spoke with McCoy for the first time the previous day, are about to finalize a deal with the coach.

McCoy was the only known interview for the Cardinals this week.

As the Cardinals' coaching search enters week three, the team has talked with McCoy, defensive coordinator Ray Horton, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and unofficially, Todd Haley, whom the Pittsburgh Steelers said the Cardinals were interviewing.

Gruden, Haley and Horton are all still on the market for a head coaching job.

    No Surprise
Instead of a team with a shakey (at best) QB situation in a tough division (Cards), he gets a team with a decent starting QB (Rivers) in a relatively easy division (SD). No surprise at all. Now let's quit fooling around and make an offer to Horton.

    Can't blame him
It's not what he did this year with Manning that made me respect him and believe he would be a good fit here, it's what he did last year especially when Orton got benched and Tebow took over. I don't blame him for taking SD job if this is true, they're much more set at the QB position than any other of the openings, especially here! I think the best option now is to promote Horton and give the red carpet treatment to Norv Turner for OC as his history shows he's as good as an OC as he is bad as a HC.

    From what
I heard, Horton needed to bring some more to the table regarding assistants he planned or wanted to bring in. I'd feel more comfortable if he could bring in Turner as his OC.

    DisgustedD: Turner
I heard yesterday (don't remember which radio station) that Horton had told Bidwill several days ago that he could get Turner as his OC and another guy (can't remember who but it was someone well regarded) as his O-Line coach. But I also read that Turner is going to Cleveland as OC so he's out of the picture. Makes sense that Bidwill would want to know who Horton is targeting for his coordinators.

    Turner
Everything out there is basically saying Turner to Cleveland is a done deal - he is just on vacation right now but will sign when he returns. His son is also expected to sign there as well. That said, there are a ton of good offensive minds out there. The bad part is, none of them will be a "flashy hire" that gets the fan based excited.

    Yep heard
that too! Mike Jurecki from Xtra910 was stating this yesterday just before 5pm. Turner wants to stay close to the West Coast but with the hiring of his son in Cleveland, looks like he is heading there. Sorry but Kirby Smart just doesn't jump off the page here.

    Well,
being a QB, a RB and a minimum of 2, if not 3 Offensive linemen shy of even having having a representative offense I am not sure who in their right mind would want to be here. Flashy hire hell, if it is breathing we will take it.

It's obvious Bidwill isn't being aggressive enough
Because either, 1) He really doesn't know what he's looking for is using the interviews as a learning opportunity, or 2) He knows what he's looking for and who he likes but isn't pursuing his guy the right way. He lost Reid and McCoy, and possibly Turner as an OC. Our current situation isn't attractive. That means he needs to be more aggressive, and that isn't happening. As for bringing in a "flashy" HC or OC in order to excite the fan base? I don't buy it. Wins excite the fan base. Fans may not like a name right off the bat, but if he can get us some wins, that will all change...

    Horton
If this is true this is why the Cardinals wasn't to sure on giving Horton the HC job. He wanted to bring in Kirby Wilson for offense and Lou Spanos for defense.
