After two seasons, defensive coordinator Ray Horton will reportedly not be returning to the organization in 2013.
While the Arizona Cardinals defense made great strides in 2012 -- ranked in the top 5 this season in pass defense and team takeaways -- defensive coordinator Ray Horton won't live to see another day in the Valley, according to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports.

Although Horton previously worked for six seasons (2004-2010) in Pittsburgh with Bruce Arians, the new Cardinals head coach will reportedly not be retaining him on his staff.

On Wednesday, ArizonaSports.com had heard that would be the case, but has not yet confirmed Silver's report.

Bowles, who will reportedly be replacing Horton, played eight seasons (1986-1993) in the NFL as a safety for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers.

He has served as an NFL assistant with six different franchises since 1995, and most recently was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012.

Bowles worked with Arians when the two were together with the Cleveland Browns from 2001-2003.

    You gotta be kidding me!
I know this isn't going to matter to anyone and I'm sure there are going to be haters out there telling me good riddance and I'm a bandwagon fan but I have defended this team for years. The only reason to watch this team is for the defense. Not sure if Seahawks have hired a DC yet, but if not I hope they hire Horton and he kicks the Cardinals' a$z! Or better yet the Cowboys. I am done.

not the way to endure yourself Bruce
This is a disaster. How does he expect to come in here and garner the support of fans when he just pissed off the base and at least half the team? It's a great big uphill battle now, one that Bowles doesn't look like he's up to. So long Ray, you'll land on your feet. Thanks for bringing some great D to AZ.

    Dumb move and why?
I now understand what the real problem with the team is. It is ownership. Horton out??? Defense is the only thing we had and now that is gone too. I guess this is all we can expect from the Cardinal organization. I can no twait to hear Doug and Wolf tomorrow try and make this a great selection. This stinks.

Jersey burning? Thats some funny stuff! Better change your screen name while you are at it there genius! I love all the band wagon fans in this town! Always gives me a good laugh! Go Cards! I'm a season ticket holder and won't stop cheering for my team! Why would one coach leaving make you burn your jersey? Here is the answer... You were NEVER a true fan to begin with! Do I like the possibility of Horton leaving... NO. Will I quit rooting for my home team and burn my jersey...NEVER. Thats just plain idiotic. Go Cards!

    Ray Horton-:(
You had to know that Ray Horton wasn't staying here unless he was the head coach. You could just feel that even if he stayed, it would only be the last year of his contract. Arians is a man of his word, but he has a mess on his hands. Good luck Card's your going to need it.I just can't see them getting better than the Ram's, Seahawks, or 49ers in the next 2-3 years.

    so angry
I've been a cards fan and ticket holder back to the sun devil stadium days, and its not the hiring of Arians itself that makes me so irate...it is the fact that Bidwill knew bringing Arians on would mean that Horton was out. Somebody please tell me how eliminating the mastermind behind the ONE and ONLY aspect of the game the cards succeeded at this season (their D), was a move that helps this franchise? Literally, this is ludicrous in every sense of the word.

    Gear Burning
For those of you wanting to burn your gear just send it to me. I'll take it. The team will overcome this move, no matter how idiotic it is, and hopefully become a winning team in the next 5-10 years. Guess Horton will be the DC for the Cowgirls.

    I'm out!
If this is true, I'm done. My dad and I are both season ticket holders, and I'm done with this team if the fire Ray Horton. Nothing more to it. I'll be calling and telling the front office this tomorrow, as well as stopping by and notifying them. Lost what little faith I had in Michael Bidwell.
