After two seasons, defensive coordinator Ray Horton will reportedly not be returning to the organization in 2013.
While the Arizona Cardinals defense made great strides in 2012 -- ranked in the top 5 this season in pass defense and team takeaways -- defensive coordinator Ray Horton won't live to see another day in the Valley, according to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports.

Although Horton previously worked for six seasons (2004-2010) in Pittsburgh with Bruce Arians, the new Cardinals head coach will reportedly not be retaining him on his staff.

On Wednesday, ArizonaSports.com had heard that would be the case, but has not yet confirmed Silver's report.

Bowles, who will reportedly be replacing Horton, played eight seasons (1986-1993) in the NFL as a safety for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers.

He has served as an NFL assistant with six different franchises since 1995, and most recently was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012.

Bowles worked with Arians when the two were together with the Cleveland Browns from 2001-2003.

    Yep
Figures. The new DC better be able to produce a good defense or the Cards will be back in the cellar. They're already at the bottom of the division again.

    What a dumb decision
I'm a diehard cardinals fan and I am seriously questioning whether I should even pay attention to the team anymore. One terrible decision after another. I can't even imagine how many season ticket holders the cardinals are gonna lose because of this. It's too bad.

    REALLY?
I'm done. Arians is a good hire but allow him to bring in a DC with a 1-9 record and avg points allowed of 32 is crazy. Horton is leaving and so are my 6 season tickets. Can't stand the Bidwell's any longer. Good luck Fitz.

    Dumbest team in the league
Without doubt. What could they possibly have been thinking? Just when I think Sarver overtook the Bidwell's for the majority of my sports hate, they go and do this. Congrats on being Most Hated again Bidwell family!

    If it ain't broke....
Then why did we hire a new HC and allow him to fix it? What a short-sided move. Can't wait for the locker room tweets - although our defense is too smart to tweet how they really feel - at least mostly. Couldn't get McCoy so we settled? But still gave him the whole team. Geez.

    RETOOLING???
This is what you call retooling Keim?? You hired a coach that brought a DC who thought the Wide 9 defense was good?? A new OC we could've been back 1-2 years. NOW SENT US BACK TO 10-20!!! Los Angeles Cardinals 2018
