After two seasons, defensive coordinator Ray Horton will reportedly not be returning to the organization in 2013.
While the Arizona Cardinals defense made great strides in 2012 -- ranked in the top 5 this season in pass defense and team takeaways -- defensive coordinator Ray Horton won't live to see another day in the Valley, according to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports.

Although Horton previously worked for six seasons (2004-2010) in Pittsburgh with Bruce Arians, the new Cardinals head coach will reportedly not be retaining him on his staff.

On Wednesday, ArizonaSports.com had heard that would be the case, but has not yet confirmed Silver's report.

Bowles, who will reportedly be replacing Horton, played eight seasons (1986-1993) in the NFL as a safety for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers.

He has served as an NFL assistant with six different franchises since 1995, and most recently was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012.

Bowles worked with Arians when the two were together with the Cleveland Browns from 2001-2003.

    CMON PEOPLE!
OK, we hire Horton and who does he bring in as an offensive staff? Does anyone think about that? Not really. I like Horton alot but I want this team to win. 58-0 does not sound good to me!!! CMON, think about the whole situation! Keim would have hired Horton but his offensive staff did not make sense. We got lucky with Arians. Good hire! The man has been on plenty of good teams. Lets see what he can do. BTW, I will take your season tickets. I at least know what is going on.

    cards screw up again
Well it hase been a rough season, and once again the bidwells screwed up. Horton has been the best thing on D side of the ball sence they moved to AZ. If TODD BOWLES has any brains, He would not change to much on the D. Maybe work on stopping the run. But thats about it. But honestly, I think we are SCREWED. I have been a fan for 20+ years, But I dont think I will go to any games next season. Kinda sucks, But thats how I feel.

Was Horton going to stick around after next year? I don't think he would have. He will be a HC soon so why not just start over.

I am going to organize a Cardinals Jersery burning in front of the Cardinals Practice Facility in Tempe to show my distaste for this decision and this team. Who is with me?

of the NFL. After 100 years you would think the Bidwill family would have learned who to run a NFL franchise. Same Ole Cardinals!!!

    Ray is out?
Ray's Defense was the only sign of hope for this team in the post Warner period. Disloyalty like this is real disheartening. His interview, now, looks like token compliance with the Rooney rule. This is very, very wrong.

Finding it difficult to support this team anymore
I cannot believe it. Well I should believe it because it is typical of the Cardinals. A top ranked defense with Horton and you get rid of him. How stupid. I have pulled for this team since they moved here but it is getting difficult with bone head moves like this. I understand that a head coach should be able to pick his coaches but with this guys choice we are worse off in my opinion.
