The former MVP breaks down Joe Flacco's remarkable postseason and recaps his experience from Super Bowl XLVII last night.

Back in March 2010, after winning back-to-back NFC West titles, the Arizona Cardinals made the decision to trade veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the Baltimore Ravens for third and fourth round draft picks.

Many felt it was the wrong move at the time. Those same people had the opportunity to say 'I told you so' following Boldin's outstanding performance in Super Bowl XLVII Sunday. The 32-year-old had six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore's 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Among those who felt the trade was a mistake three years ago: former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner.

"In my opinion, no doubt," Warner said during an interview with Burns and Gambo on Arizona Sports 620 Monday. "You can look at Anquan and you can look at his tangibles -- how fast he runs and things like that.

"But there are special players in this game that have intangibles that want the ball when the game is on the line, that bring their competitiveness and bring guys up around them that want the ball in critical moments and say 'throw it to me, I will find a way to make a play,' -- that was always Anquan Boldin."

After being a second round pick of the Cardinals in 2003, Boldin immediately made his impact felt. The former Florida State star caught 10 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL game, a 42-24 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Boldin would go on to play seven seasons in Arizona, and is still the Cardinals' fourth all-time leading receiver with 586 catches for 7,520 yards and 44 touchdowns.

"You can't let those kind of guys go because they're just not a dime a dozen," Warner said.

Boldin's stay in Arizona wasn't without controversy. During training camp in 2008, Boldin expressed disappointment with the Cardinals' failure to reward him with a contract extension. And then, during the NFC Championship Game that same season, Boldin had a heated exchange on the sideline with then-offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Boldin caught criticism for leaving the field during the postgame celebration instead of enjoying the franchise's first NFC Championship with teammates and fans.

"That incident with Anquan and Todd, I really believe that all of it stemmed from the same things," Warner explained. "I think it stemmed from the fact that he had given everything to this football team, and he felt, and I don't have the details, he felt that they said that they were going to re-do his deal and give him a contract and what they said didn't come to be.

"There was a lot of frustration that whole year. It was a difficult year for him across the board."

Boldin would play one more year in the desert in 2009, catching 84 passes for 1,024 yards and four touchdowns as the Cardinals won their second straight division crown.

    hindsight is 20/20
I would have liked to keep Boldin, but I didn't have a problem with the trade. Keeping Boldin wasn't going to automatically keep them in contention. Besides, Andre Roberts is coming along as a solid #2, and Floyd could be hitting his potential in the next couple seasons. Receivers are only as productive as the QB throwing them the ball. I would say Boldin is the least missed from that 2010 offseason. If the QB play wasn't so ineffective the past 3 seasons, perhaps we'd have seen better production out of the other WRs, and people wouldn't be crying over Boldin being gone so much

    Ray Lewis
Minutes after Boldin signed with the Ravens, Ray Lewis called Q and said "The Superbowl is in Dallas this year." He was a perfect fit on the Ravens and welcomed with open arms. His time in AZ was done, esp.now that we know he would have had minimal production with the QB's. He would have been way unhappy only catching 30 balls per season in AZ.

I'm happy he won, but super sad it wasn't with the Cards. Still one of my favorite Cards of all time.

    Whatever
With the qb carousel Whiz had after Warner retired Boldin would of been a useless piece on the Cardinals.

    not sure
that keeping Boldin would have helped the Cards with the revolving door at QB. Lets face it, as much of a whiner that he is, he sure would have been complaining with the touches that he would have gotten in the last couple of years. If you can't complete passes to 1 future hall of fame receiver, what makes you think you can get the ball to 2 of them?

    Disagree
I have to disagree with Kurt on this one. Boldin would have walked following the 2010 season and the Cardinals would have received nothing in return. The picks they got for Boldin ended up turning into Andre Roberts and O'Brien Schofield; two starters.

    For Boldin's sake
I am glad he left only because doing so earned him a superbowl ring in the end, and he deserved it considering the player he is. Keeping him in AZ would have only frustrated him further and waisted his talent like it has Fitz. We would not be in a better position if he stayed (unless we get QB production next season).

All he wanted was to be given the same treatment that Fitz was getting. I don't think he expected the same money, just the same feeling that he was an important member of the team. If he was told he was going to be extended & Bidwill didn't keep his word, then Anquan had every right to be pissed offf!!!!!!!

    Here's the bottom line
They should have kept Boldin and retired his number. I have been a lifelong fan of the Cards, and Boldin was one of the very few superstars the team ever had. In reply to "says who" - Boldin was NEVER a whiner. I'm guessing you just tuned in for the Superbowl run. Keep in mind he shattered his jaw against the Jets, took no pain medicine and was back on the field in 2 weeks. You don't trade that, especially for a 3rd and 4th. One of the worst trades in this franchise's history.
