Take one quarterback off the market and add another one to it.

While the San Francisco 49ers trading Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs means he is no longer an option for the Arizona Cardinals, his arrival signals departure from Kansas City of someone who could be.

Cassel, 30, has spent the last four seasons with the Chiefs after starting his career with New England. A Pro Bowler in 2010 when he threw for 27 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, his numbers have dipped since as he dealt with injuries and ineffectiveness.

Cassel played in just nine games each of the last two seasons, and in 2012 completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 1,796 yards and six touchdowns while throwing 12 interceptions.

Not known for having a big arm, which is something new Cardinals coach Bruce Arians would appear to prefer, it is unclear if Cassel would be a good fit in Arizona. However, with the Chiefs set to release him he would be a reasonably cheap option for a Cardinals team that could use some help at the position.

    No Cassel
I could have sworn this article was describing Derek Anderson. In fairness though, Cassel is closer to Kolb than Anderson. I'd rather take my chances and draft a QB or like Dr.Sublime wrote, go get Mallet.

    Foles
Go for Nick Foles. Can probably get him for a 3rd rounder now that he doesn't fit into Kelly's system. He's the best available. If we don't make a move for him, upgrade the line in a line-heavy draft and roll with Kolb.

My opinion of Bruce Arians goes way down if he's interested in Matt Cassel

    No way
maybe as a backup at best. No, not even as a back up. Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn are baddd, Reid is known for developing QB's and aparently he does not see anything in Cassel.

Ryan Mallet Bandwagon - "ALL ABOARD!"
No thank you Matt Cassell, if he wasn't good enough in KC why should we want him? They HAVE a running game. Ryan Mallet is a STUD, played vs the best in the SEC and played WELL. Goes to NE and sits behind Belichek and Brady for 2 years. The only concern was he smoked weed in college, he is past that. We haven't heard any negative press on Mallet, as a matter of fact, NE was just raving about his practices. PLEASE PLEASE get Mallet, just don't give up the 1st so we can get a stud OL in Joeckel / Fisher / Warmack

    WHAT?!
Does Schefter really think that the Cards are going to get ****ed over again? Maybe Adam has short term memory, but who traded us Kevin Kolb? Now who is the HC of the Cheifs? No way, Andy Reid knows how to trade magic beans for a milk cow. We are still waiting for our beanstalk to grow! Still siting here waiting......waiting..... and waiting.
