The Arizona Cardinals are making it so that any team looking to sign quarterback Brian Hoyer away from them will forfeit a second-round pick to do so.

Hoyer now stands to make $700,000 more than he otherwise would have without the tender.

Hoyer, who was signed by the Cardinals late last season, appeared in two games for the team (one start), throwing for 330 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions.

low risk on our end and yet if another team wants him bad enough we will be rewarded with a 2nd rounder

Was there really that much interest in Hoyer that this was warranted? I'm not upset or anything, but he was released last year for a reason and while he might have looked like a better back up then Skelton or Lindley toward the end of the year, Skelton and Lindley were playing so poorly even I'd look better by comparison. This move doesn't bother me, just a little surprising for a team with a surplus of "back up" caliber QB talent. I think people forget, as horrific as Lindley was, he was in his rookie season, there's still a chance he could develop into an okay back up in this league.
