The cuts just keep on coming.

The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday they have released running back Beanie Wells.

The move comes as a bit of a shock but not all that big of a surprise, as Wells had a very rocky four years in the desert.

Taken with the 31st pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Wells showed promise as a rookie when he rushed for 793 yards and seven touchdowns. After a down 2010, Wells ran for 1,047 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2011, but his production dropped in 2012 in large part due to injuries and ineffectiveness.

He played in just eight games, rushing for 234 yards and five touchdowns.

While I understand, I would have liked to see him get the opportunity under the new regime. He showed flashes of brilliance at times and i dont put it on him entirely that our run game never developed. The line couldnt open up holes for anyone.

He went from a runner who could tear open holes and bounce would-be tacklers off with his amazing stiff arm, to someone who could only run straight forward and fall down at the first sign of contact. He would have done better with a better line, but he just wasn't the same runner as he was before the injuries and bulking up.

Wells is this years version of Michael Pittman. He'll probably do better for another team with a lesser role but will not be a true #1 RB!

I dont think any running back whould have had good years with this OL. Remember that the Cardinals have never been a top ten rushing team in the NFL. When u rush for 7 yards in an NFL game at home your problem is obvious. Yes he has had injury problems but it's not all on Beanie.

A mistake. Beanie will bring another team good value.
