The Arizona Cardinals continued the remaking of their secondary Friday with the signing of cornerback Antoine Cason to a one-year contract.

Philadelphiaeagles.com writer Adam Caplan is reporting the deal is for $1.5 million that includes $500,000 in incentives, meaning Cason could earn up to $2 million in 2013.

Cason joins Jerraud Powers, who agreed to terms Wednesday, as new cornerbacks on the roster.

Cason, 26, starred at the University of Arizona before becoming a first round pick of the Chargers in 2008.

His entire five-year career has been spent in San Diego, with Cason tallying 308 combined tackles to go along with 12 interceptions.

Most recently, in 2012, Cason was in on 73 tackles, forced two fumbles, picked off two passes and had 11 passes defensed.

In college, as a senior, Carson was named a consensus First-Team All-American won the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given to the best defensive back in the country.

    Good Signing
I love the trio of Peterson, Powers, and Cason. Compare that to last year of Peterson, Gay, toler/Fleming (still could be good but needs to develop) - should be worlds of difference.

Hopefully he can live up to his Great College Stats. U of A fans should be happy.

    Upgrade
The corner position has been upgraded already. PP21 is a stud. Powers is a upgrade over Gay and Cason is a upgrade over Toler IMO. With a year under Flemings belt can only help. Good job FO

    My favorite
This is personally my favorite signing. SD knows they lost a good corner and I am happy to have a wildcat on our team. BearDown

    Great F/A grabs
You have to love these one year contracts. Low risk, high reward. Very smart moves by the Cardinals. Now we just need to focus on the O-line and linebacker in the draft and grab a young quarterback to develop.

    Ok
Makes no difference if they don't do anything about the offensive line.

I'm liking the 1-yr signings too...
I think it's smart to sign the proven players - ck it out for a year and if the fit IS right, then make a smart financial commitment. Our secondary is better than last year IMO but we'll see how it goes. I'm excited to see the addition of Shaughnessy for sure. Hate to see Rhodes go but I think it also is the smart move. We gotta get better and the money has to be moved around and adjusted to get it done. Now let's get after that OL in the 1st round FO! Regardless of the QB, we're nowhere without a major upgrade at OL...
