When Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antonio Cromartie came out of Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers in the third quarter with a knee injury, it didn’t look very good.
And considering the bad news the Cardinals have received on the injury front so far in 2014, many were bracing for the worst possible news Monday.
Cromartie and the team dodged bad news, however, when an MRI revealed no structural damage to the veteran’s surgically-repaired left knee.
“I got really good news this morning as far as injury-wise,” head coach Bruce Arians said Monday. “Antonio Cromartie’s knee is just a bone bruise with a little swelling, so there’s no ACL (damage). His old surgery is intact and is in good shape, so he’ll be day-to-day this week and ready to roll next week.”
Cromartie originally tore his ACL in 2005 when he was at Florida State University.
Following Sunday’s game, Cromartie said he didn’t know exactly how he injured the knee, saying “I just hyperextended it and that was it.”
