It may not be a Hall of Fame bust, but this year Larry Fitzgerald will join the company of some other greats in the form of corn.
Fitzgerald is the selection of this year’s celebrity corn maze at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek. The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver was surprised with the tribute early this morning when he took a helicopter ride over the farm, only to find his likeness carved into the 10-acre corn field.
Fitzgerald is the ninth celebrity to receive the honor, joining the likes of Larry King, Muhammad Ali, Oprah, Jay Leno and Arizona sports stars Luis Gonzalez and Steve Nash.
The choice of Fitzgerald goes along with this year’s Super Bowl theme for the farm, in preparation for Super Bowl XLIX in February that Glendale is hosting. The bottom of Fitzgerald’s maze features the phrase “Bringing it Home,” and a smaller four-acre maze is adorned with the slogan “Team is what it Takes.”
Fitzgerald’s maze covers more than three miles of pathway, and it is estimated to take up to an hour to traverse through the entire area.
It's a huge honor & I'm humbled by their time & craftsmanship. I look forward to coming back out to tackle the maze. pic.twitter.com/sQiQU3ZlOr
