The 2016 Super Bowl odds are out and they’re not too favorable for the Arizona Cardinals, as R.J. Bell of Pregame.com has them at a 40/1 shot to win it all next season.
The Cards are tied with the St. Louis Rams for the worst odds in the NFC West. The Seattle Seahawks, who Sunday lost Super Bowl XLIX 28-24, have the best odds in the entire league at 6/1, while the San Francisco 49ers are a 30/1 shot.
The Cardinals are tied at 14th in the NFL with four other teams, including the 6-10 New York Giants. There’s even a sub-.500 team with better odds than Arizona in the New Orleans Saints, who were 7-9 in 2014.
This past season, before being ravaged by injuries, Arizona looked to be a Super Bowl contender. The Cardinals started 8-1 before losing starting quarterback Carson Palmer to a torn ACL, and were already without Darnell Dockett and Daryl Washington, both of whom were out for the entire season. In all, Arizona lost 21 different players for a total of 109 games to injury, yet still finished 11-5 and made the playoffs.
Bovada gives the Cardinals a little more love, putting them at a 33/1 shot to win the title, tied for 11th best in the league. But they also see the 49ers and Saints having a better chance at the title next year.
The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots are second at 7/1 odds in both rankings.
