Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Damond Powell is recovering and awaiting surgery after he was reportedly shot last Friday night, according to ESPN.

Powell’s high school coach, Rick Rios, told Josh Weinfuss
he was shot in the jaw and in the neck — the second bullet got lodged between the C1 and C2 vertebrae. Surgery was supposed to happen over the weekend but doctors want to wait for swelling to subside.

Powell and his friends were sitting in his driveway when the shots were fired down the street, according to the report. No arrests have been made at this time.

Powell was signed as an undrafted rookie in May. He had 19 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns last season for the University of Iowa.
