Nash 4th, Gortat 5th in All-Star balloting

Steve Nash is fourth for Western Conference guards and Marcin Gortat is fifth for centers on the 2012 NBA All-Star voting ballot.

The starters have been chosen, but the reserves are selected by the 30 NBA head coaches. The coaches must vote for seven players in their conference. That group will consist of two forwards, two guards, a center and two players regardless of position. The reserves will be announced on Feb. 9.

If selected to play, this will be Nash's eighth All-Star game and Gortat's first.

The starting lineup for the Western Conference is composed of Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, Andrew Bynum, Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul.

Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade will be the starters for the Eastern Conference.

The All-Star game will be played in Orlando on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

Out of the west, are there really 4 other centers playing better than gortat is? Other than Bynum - I MIGHT rank Gasol ahead of him just on the pure basis that he averages 2 more assists per game.

and it always has been with regards to the All-Star voting. When it gets to the coaches, that is when the real players are selected based upon skill and what they have done. I wouldn't expect to see both, or either of the Suns on the All-Star team, but either, or both could legitimately be there this year.
