Add the Portland Trail Blazers to the mix of teams supposedly looking to trade for Suns point guard Steve Nash.

According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, a source close to the situation told him Portland "has been interested in Nash for a while."

Stein notes the Blazers as an interesting trade partner because they, unlike many of the other rumored teams, actually have assets that may interest the Suns. That is, of course, if Portland is willing to part with some of its better players.

Yet even if the Blazers were willing to include the widely coveted Nicolas Batum in a package for Nash -- which is a matter of debate depending on who's doing the gossiping -- sources say Phoenix continues to put out the message that it won't deal Nash unless Nash asks to be traded. Which is something Nash has consistently said he won't do.

The trade deadline is March 15, so teams still have time to come up with offers, just like the Suns still have time to reject them.

Then again, maybe some team will come up with an offer that makes the Suns pull the trigger on a deal.

We have a couple weeks left to find out.

    Let's do this
Steve Nash for Nicolas Batum, Raymond Felton, and a first round pick. Maybe add a third team and include Grant Hill to Portland somehow? Batum is only 23 and still has some upside. In an offensive scheme like the Suns' I can definitely see him flourishing. Felton has shown he can be a an above average point guard. If he fails to regain his form his expiring contract could be useful. It's not great but it does give the Sun's a nice young piece in Batum and maybe a first round pick.

as much as i love nash
batum, felton, 1st rounder for nash and a 2nd rounder - done deal in my book. you might have to pay batum some money next year, but hes better and younger than anyone we could get in free agency

    Won't happen
Batum and Felton maybe. Portland not doing that and a 1st round pick. 2nd round picks have very little value. While I believe there are a number teams who would like to have Nash, these teams are not going to overpay for him. He is 38 he is an unrestricted Free Agent and it is going to cost some team close to 5 million to rent him. His performance this year has very little to do with his value. His performance has a lot to do with why teams want him, but teams will not overpay. I really don't think you could get Batum and Felton. The Suns can't get what he is worth to them

    Another SF?
While Batum is a nice, young athletic player he's a SF. We'd have to make more moves to rid ourselves of the glut of SF's we have now. Felton would be ok. I doubt Portland would only take Steve and a #2 for Batum, Felton, #1. Does Steve really want to play in Portland? I doubt it. What else you got?

do not have the stones to make a trade that makes them better in the long run. they are cowards playing to a few who think we can still get that 8th seed and want to build around nash at 38. I love him and want him to retire a sun, but I rather see a contending team a few years down the road then the current 10 yr plan they are going to be on.
