The Suns will have every opportunity to add a big time player or two this summer.

According to Tom Haberstroh of ESPN Insider, the Suns' $26 million in cap space will be equaled only by that of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Suns are $5 million over the cap right now and have Steve Nash, Grant Hill and Shannon Brown coming off. They could afford to re-sign Nash for one more run, plus get him some high-powered help.

Indeed, the Suns have set themselves up nicely to pursue multiple free agents this summer, though Nash's status will play a big role in everything they do.

Keeping Nash would surely put a dent in the amount of available cap space, though how much the point guard would command is unclear.

Furthermore, few expect the Suns to be in on some of the NBA's top free agents.

But that's not the point, really. The point is they've put themselves in position to make a run at these players, which is something they haven't done since the summer of 2004, when they pried Nash away from the Dallas Mavericks.

Money for a horrible Free Agent class....
That's great Adam, thank you for sharing. Is your next article going to include a list of available Free Agents this summer? My guess is no because you haven't looked at it judging from this article. There is nothing desireable in the Free Agent class of 2012. Eric Gordon? Please enlighten me on what free agents the Suns should target with the ample salary cap space they will have. You make it sound like their is plenty to choose from when in fact, there is very little to choose from. Looking forward to your next article on the free agent prizes for the Summer of 2012...

There are desirable Free Agents in the Class of 2012 it is just at what price the key is that you don't over pay for people anymore if some wants to over pay them let them.

Care to share which Free Agents you feel would be a good fit? If you say there are good players at the right prices why don't you share which ones you feel we should target so I can get really excited. The Free Agent class of 2012 is quite limited. Eric Gordon? OJ Mayo? Please enlighten me on these great options.

    Sarver
It's fine and dandy that we'll have all of this cap space, but I'm not convinced that Sarver will spend a cent more that he is required to by the league.

    Sarver 2
Sarver's track record indicates that he'd rather spread the money around to several role players than pay big money to anyone not named Steve Nash, so I expect him to go for quantity over quality with free agents and cross his fingers.
