Gentry's attention is on playoffs, not contract extension

And although he wants to stay in the Valley, whatever happens to his future, he knows it's for the best.
"I found in the past if those things are supposed to work out, they'll work out. And if people have different things that they're thinking about, then it won't," Gentry told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Thursday. "So I don't worry about that. I have somebody out there that works for me that looks into that."
Gentry, who has been the head coach since the middle of the 2008 season, has compiled a 144-113 overall record with the Suns and guided the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2009.
He wants to stay in Phoenix because of the franchise and the people he works with, and continue on building the team.
However, the Suns have four games left in the regular season and are a half game behind the eighth seed in the Western Conference. The most important concern for Gentry now is the Suns' playoff push.
"My focus right now is trying to figure out a way that we can win some of the games that we have left on our schedule to see if we can make a playoff run and get into the playoffs," Gentry said.
He said any talk of negotiations now would not be "appropriate."
"I think until the season concludes, that's not anything that would even be on the table anyway for discussion," Gentry said.
