The Phoenix Suns will have around $28 million in cap space this summer, provided none of their own free agents return.

A guest on Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo, Suns owner Robert Sarver said the team will have money to spend, and there are some players who they're interested in spending it on.

"A number of them have some interest in our franchise, and we have interest in some of them," he said about the league's free agents. "We'll have to see how it plays out."

Sarver said the team's goal is to "get ourselves back to the elite status we had for the three years that we went to the Western Conference Finals," but isn't sure they will be able to accomplish that goal this summer.

While Sarver can't comment on free agents from other teams, he is able to discuss Steve Nash.

Nash, as you are already probably aware, is a free agent, able to sign with any team he chooses. He may decide to stay in Phoenix, which is something the owner would not be opposed to.

"In a nutshell, if the situation's right, both parties would like to continue working together," he said. "We're going to have to kind of work through that and see if we come away with a win-win for both of us."

Free agency begins July 1st, and there's no question the Suns would like to be busy adding key guys or, at the very least, keeping their own.

    He better be ready!
He better be ready for huge losses at the gate. The Suns made no moves during the season as they were supposedly saving for summer free agency. Now they are talking like they may not spend this year. Well Good Luck! If he and Babby think Suns fans will be understanding and suffer thru a another bad season. He is 100% WRONG! It might be the right way to go though there is little evidence to support that, but the fans won't pay nor should they be EXPECTED to do so! Sarver made the dumb moves. Let him fix it or let him pay.

    At The Very Least?
Keeping their own? The feeling Sarver and Babby seem to be offering with their remarks is "be ready for a long dry spell". Well if you don't upgrade this team you won't be seeing me and my disposable income any time soon fellas.

    Same old Sarver
"if the situation's right" In other words, if Nash is willing to play for the Vets Midlevel exception he can stay.

    Nash
At the trade deadline Babby was on the radio saying no way are we trading Nash he is the face of our organization. So now why are they even entertaining the idea of not bringing him back? With 28 mil in cap space plus you can go over the cap to resign your own players it should be a non-issue. If Sarver does not have the money to do this right he should sell the team. Letting Nash go now and getting nothing is a terrible business and franchise move.
