While the Phoenix Suns haven't given up hope of re-signing Steve Nash this off-season, the team has begun making contingency plans in the event the two-time MVP opts to walk.

Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News thinks the Suns could have interest in one of the league's premier point guards.

Brooklyn fans — it's strange to write that — won't like it, but the Suns are going to go all out for Deron Williams.

Nash remains the Suns' top off-season priority and the team is rumored to be mulling possible offers that could entice their franchise guard to remain in Phoenix.

They're hopeful that a two-year, $20 million deal does the trick, and if they add a third season that would probably cinch it since it would take Nash through his 41st birthday.

The Suns don't think Nash will sign with a contender but instead believe the Raptors, Knicks and Nets stand as their biggest threats in retaining his services.

If Nash does depart, the Suns are expected to make a concerted effort to lure Williams to the desert despite the fact the competition to land the highly-touted guard will be fierce.

    the bad part about the nbas contract structure is a team cant blow away everyone else with an offer. we can offer the same max contract 10 other teams could. 10 other teams that are competitive and have the pieces to remain so for the future

    This should be THE plan. Any dollar spent on Nash is a waste and keeps this team from rebuilding. How many years gotta slip away before the fans finally rise up and not take Sarver and his tight wallet? He clearly has no plan for a long term solution but why should he, him and his kronies are in this for the short-term investment, so what do the Suns fans do? They cry for the return of Nash. We should have traded him and Amare at the respective trading deadlines to get something for them. You don't think Miami could use Nash right now?

    Marotta is reporting that Nash is a back-up plan for Brooklyn should D. Williams leave. If Williams is the Suns backup plan as well, how does that work out?

    make signing Dragic your top priority. Nash is old and keeping him at $10 mil/per season will not help the rebuilding process. Also, signing D. Williams is a pipe-dream because he wants to play for an instant contender...which the Suns are not. Just face reality and go after a quality point guard who will help make you competitive now, help you build for the future, and who is more affordable & attainable.
