Jeremy Lamb - Shooting Guard - University of Connecticut
Lamb grabbed a fair share of headlines in 2011 as a true freshman for the eventual national champion UCONN Huskies, despite the presence of National Player of the Year Kemba Walker. The shooting guard averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 58% from the field during UCONN's NCAA Tournament run, and was named to the All-Final Four team.
As a sophomore in 2011-12, Lamb took on more of the scoring load for the Huskies and averaged 17.7 points per game, which was good enough for third in the Big East Conference behind only Kevin Jones of West Virginia and Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom.
Treloar's Take
Jeremy Lamb was on the National Championship Connecticut team last year. Had a good run in the tournaments. Came back this year. And for me, it was a very difficult year for their program. Coach Calhoun missed some time with the illness situation and I think maybe even a suspension there. I never saw Jeremy really play at the level that he did a year ago when he had Kemba Walker running their ballclub. But he's a very talented two-guard prospect. Very good size for a two-guard. He's probably 6-6, 6-7. And has a very good scoring component to him.
Scouting Report Snippets
• Chad Ford of ESPN says Lamb has "a freaky 7-foot wing span" and trumps his athleticism, mid-range shooting ability and the ability to be disruptive defensively due to his long arms. Negatives include: a tendency to be passive on offense and a lack of strength to thrive at NBA level.
• Paul Banks of The Washington Times says about Lamb: "Though streaky and inconsistent at times, Lamb will likely be the first shooting guard to come off the board on draft night. He possesses a capabale all- around offensive attack and is a gifted athlete with terrific length. Lamb should fall somewhere in the mid- late lottery depending on team needs."
