Of all the teams rumored to be of interest to Steve Nash, one that many probably overlook is the Toronto Raptors.

Sure, the Raptors play in Nash's home country, but they aren't exactly "ready to win", which is a requirement many feel Nash will have for whoever he signs his next contract with.

After all, if winning isn't the issue, why leave the Suns in the first place?

But that may not be the case, at least not entirely.

According to Randy Hill of FoxSportsArizona.com, the Nash-to-Toronto rumors may have something to them.

"I've been hearing that from people that would know," said one Western Conference sharpie, sounding very much like the rest of us. "The Raptors may not be ready to win right away, but with (Andrea) Bargnani, (DeMar) DeRozan and maybe (Jonas) Valanciunas coming over next season, they could be pretty decent right away with Nash. And they could have enough cap space to get something done there."

The Raptors do have some young talent -- more than the Suns can offer -- but aren't exactly a team on the cusp of winning a title.

But as with any of the Nash rumors, we won't truly know anything until free agency begins July 1, as only then will we find out who the point guard is talking with and what teams he will consider joining.

    Raptors really better?
It really wouldn't bother me too much if Nash went elsewhere but Toronto? Really? If it was just Steve being in Canada thats cool, but are those guys listed above that much better. I know Toronto beat us last year when Bargnani went off, but I don't know that he is that good. My concern is without Nash the Suns would really struggle at the gate for 3 or 4 years at the minimum with really no guarantee that a rebuilding plan would even work. Lots have tried and lots have failed. Even those who you might consider a success have gotten pretty lucky along the way (OKC)

Gotta question for ya, you say your concern is without Nash the Suns would really struggle? What have they been doing WITH Nash the past 3 years? We need to cut our losses and understand that the Nash era is over. The Suns will not bring in top level players to play with Nash. They'll keep doing what they've been doing, bringing in retreads and guys way past their prime and hope the Suns fans buy the dog and pony show. I'm done, do a sign and trade and leet the rebuilding start. We gotta draw the line somewhere, meanwhile we keep falling further and further behind.

I won't disagree that the Suns struggled the last couple of years, but it wasn't Nash's fault. Nash leaves and watch the performance level of Frye, Gortat, Dudley and more go way down. The only free agent even close to Nash is Dragic. I was at a number of Suns games before D'Antoni and guess what there was nobody there. Who is taking that hit Sarver? Think again! With moving on things will be bad for 3 or 4 years. Worse than last year. Way worse. Who wants to pay to see that? To be continued..

So many people think rebuilding is the only answer. That answer is not proven AT ALL! OKC and Chi are the only 2 teams even close to making that work. Did Heat rebuild through the draft? The Celtics? The Lakers? even the Mavericks? No they all got a superstar and added pieces. OKC was extremely lucky to get Durant. Chi has had Rose for 3 or 4 years now and haven't won a championship. Now they are talking changes. It is easier to get that one big free agent than try to develop a freshman or Sophmore out of college. A lot of them have been busts
