Just hours into free agency, Eric Gordon has already reportedly scheduled a visit with the Phoenix Suns.

According to ESPN.com, the 23-year-old shooting guard is scheduled to visit Phoenix on Tuesday. Gordon also has a visit to schedule for Sunday with the Indiana Pacers, and Monday with the Houston Rockets.

Gordon is said to be seeking a max contract from his prospective team, which will pay him $58 million over four years, and he hopes to make his decision before his first Team USA practice in Las Vegas on July 6.

If the Suns were able to sign Gordon to an offer sheet, they would then have to wait three days to allow the New Orleans Hornets to see if they choose to match the offer.

Gordon, who averaged 20 points and three assists last season with the Hornets, would provide a solid scorer to the Suns, a piece they have been sorely lacking since the departure of Amare Stoudemire to the New York Knicks following the 2009-10 season.

Bringing in Gordon would also provide a strong selling point for a free agent point guard, whether that is Steve Nash or one of many others.

So, Eric Gordon is coming to Phoenix?
Is it because of max money that we have already seen Saver wont provide? Is it because of our dynamic organization? Is it because Steve Nash is the point guard (Oops...I think he is gone!) Is it because we are such a large market that provides additional earning capabilities? Or, is this just a smokescreen so the fans wont be too upset about how little the Suns have done to improve their lot?

    Sign these guys
First id like to see the suns throw the bank at Batum. Nicolas Batum is young long athletic plays d and can do a bit of everything on offense. Two more guys id like are Anthony Randolph who is young athletic and cheap i think its worth a risk, and/or Ersan Illyasova. Eric Gordon is too injury prone for my likings

    The problem
The problem is these guys are restricted free agents, so their team can match any offer including Gordon and Batum. This is a horrible off season for a team like the Suns who have the cash and the need to sign top notch players. Not a lot of good free agents and the ones available are mainly restricted free agents. Suns might have to hold off until next off season, either way expect another season in the toilet. At least they will have a high draft pick, but we all know they aren't the best on draft day.

    batum
Even though Batum is RFA, the blazers offered Hibbert a deal and hoping they may not have enough money to offer what the suns could offer.

Get it done if you can.
We need a solid 2 guard in the worst way. If we're rebuilding, a young solid 23 year old scorer playing across from our new draftee point guard will keep the rookie from having to be something he's not. I like Gortat too, as a serviceable big man. That would at least shore up the 1, 2, and 5 going forward. I also like Frye, Dudley, Morris, and even Lopez as reserve front line guys, but we need star quality at forward if we get Gordon, to compete again. Without Gordon, we are hapless, and star-less.

    Anthony Randolph
jforce3 brought up an interesting name in Anthony Randolph. Both he and Beasley were allowed to go Unrestricted, so he might be a decent gamble on the cheap. I wouldn't mind the Suns working on Beasley either. I heard that they had already met with him in LA to see where his head was at. Wonder if the Suns could straighten him out, him being Beasley.
