Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash will be apart of a sign-and-trade deal that will send him to the Los Angeles Lakers and multiple first-round picks and cash to the Suns.

The Suns will receive four draft picks plus cash, reported by Arizona Sports 620's Jon Bloom.

The exact picks the Suns will receive are the 2013 and 2015 first-round picks and the 2013 and 2014 second-round picks.

The amount of cash the Suns will receive is estimated to be about $3 million.

Nash never was serious about the interest from the New York Knicks, Gambadoro said. The Lakers were his first choice. Nash did not want to take Toronto's offer, as he wanted to stay close to his home in Phoenix.

According to Gambadoro, the deal is expected to be finalized Wednesday evening.

    Good Trade
Its tough to see a guy like Steve Nash go to a rival in the Lakers but at least they got something for him. I don't think they will get anything for the 2013 pick because the Lakers will do well next year but I like the first round pick in 2015 which Nash will probably have retired by that year. Phoenix isn't your major market that you have superstars that just want to flock here, they need to build this team through the draft and not waste anymore money on stupid contracts (I.E. Josh Childress, Channing Frye)

Thank you, Steve! I hope you lose.
That thank you is 100% sincere. Steve treated us to some unforgettable basketball. Yeah, it hurts a little, but here's why I'll get over it: he knew about the decision to rebuild, the value of upcoming drafts to the Suns and that they wouldn't be able to compete with the Lakers for the next few years anyway, so why not accept the offer that keeps him nearest his kids? Unfortunately, those picks'll be (very) late first round unless the L.A. experiment inexplicably tanks (it won't), so they probably won't pan out to anything special.

    Well...
A pretty good deal for an aging player. Do any of you honestly think the suns could get more. I expected less. Would you be happy as a suns fan if Nash had been playing in Dallas and we made this type of trade to get him here? I didn't think so. Bye Steve, you'll be missed.

    Great Deal!!
I don't know about anyone else, BUT I LOVE THIS DEAL!! I'm sad to see Nash go, but we now hold in our possession what would have been the future of the LA Lakers. Nash gets 2 or 3 years at a run at a championship, a time when the Suns will be working on rebuilding and so there really will be no competition between the Suns and the Lakers, but as the Lakers start to become a Lottery team, we will have their picks.

    Great Deal!!!
Second great point the Suns don't pick up any bad contracts!! We can use that money on other players that will help improve the team. Finally in a back handed kind of way Nash might have helped give the Suns the last laugh, as he retires from the league in coming years he positions the team and fans have loved him so much the upper hand for some years to come. Best of Luck to you Nash and now on to another great chapter in Suns Basketball!!

    Not to mention...
...he was a F/A. We could have received zilch, and probably should have. Honestly, we lucked out. The suns will not be a contender during the next year or two the Lakers will be good, very good. Hopefully the picks will help us after that time.

    Great Trade Bob!
You can cash these picks in for some serious cash, Bob. This is money in the bank!

    Draft picks
On the bright side, we got back something without letting Steve walk for nothing, and without taking back any contracts. As for the draft picks, they can be packaged to use in a trade to move up in a future draft or to be part of a trade down the road.
