O.J. Mayo completed his visit with Phoenix Suns' brass over the weekend , but it doesn't look like the two will match up unless Mayo's price tag goes down.

Arizona Sports 620's John Gambadoro tweeted Sunday the Suns weren't comfortable with Mayo's asking price.

The Memphis Grizzlies free agent was the third pick overall in the 2008 NBA draft but held a bench role with the team for the past two seasons.

In 2011-12, Mayo averaged 12.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest in 66 games.

    $8M a year is not too much for Mayo, and since we amnestied Childress, we have plenty of cap space. Especially since we didn't land Gordon, and he was gonna be getting paid a lot if the Hornets didn't match. No point in bring back Shannon Brown at this point.

    Shannon Brown is not a starting 2G. Not bad coming off the bench but a starter no way. Is 2mil a year really that big of a difference? They have gone this far and they are basically out of any potential Harden sweepstakes next season gvien all these signings, so I would go all the way, sign Mayo and give it your best shot. If they don't that BIG hole at 2G still remains.

    not sure after all the movement, but i dont think many teams interested in him have 8 million left. know the lakers dont, do the mavs?

    They don't have the money for Mayo but they do for Lopez? The ignorance of this ownership amazes me.

    5-6 Mil per makes sense,.. 8-10 is crazy over priced for a "boom or bust" player like Mayo.

    I'm thrilled to see us exercising restraint. Mayo for 5-6 a year is a solid bet. Mayo for 8-9... no thanks. Best to hold onto our cap space and play out this next season to continue the rebuild with a high lottery pick.Our team is shaping up to be very intriguing, not necessarily very good... but very intriguing.

    If Suns don't get Mayo, roll with Brown or Redd for a season and start formulating a plan to pursue Harden next off-season.

    Yep - they are cheap. They should give Mayo whatever he wants, even if another team isnt willing to go that high. Screw business strategy, just dish out the cash!! It worked out so well for for Warrick, Childress, and Frye too. Oh wait...
