Former Suns GM and current TNT NBA broadcaster Steve Kerr thinks the Suns did well to land former Rocket Luis Scola.

"I'm a big fan of Scola; I think he's a really good player," he told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Tuesday. "He still has some good years left in him and the Suns ended up getting him at a really good price."

Arizona Sports 620's John Gambadoro reported Scola will make $13.5 million over the next three years, which seems like a bargain for a player who averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season and is just one year removed from a season where he scored 18.3 points per night.

But that's not the only move Kerr is a fan of.

"I like overall what they've done this offseason," he said, praising the selection of North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall in last month's draft.

"The guy's a basketball player," Kerr said. "He can run a team and find guys and get them to their spots and get shots for his teammates.

"Those guys are really difficult to come by."

Kerr does question the addition of Michael Beasley, saying that while he can score the basketball, he makes for a better power forward than small forward. However, with the signing of Scola coupled with the other power forwards already on the roster, it appears the Suns envision the former number two pick at the small forward position.

"It will be interesting to see if they can figure out the Beasley piece and make that work," he said.

Steve Kerr gives his opinion on what he thinks Grant Hill will bring to the Clippers and if he believes Luis Scola is a good addition to the Suns.
Kerr did say, however, he understands what the Suns are thinking in adding the guy, because he is a high ceiling player with plenty of untapped potential.

"For that price," Kerr said. "I think they're looking at it like hey, let's take a chance."

That's exactly what Beasley, who will be on his third team in four seasons, is for the Suns. If it works out, they may have found a go-to scorer, one capable of taking over games on a regular basis. If not, the only thing lost is a little bit of money (and probably quite a few games).

"He's got everything to prove," Kerr said. "He has a lot to prove, and this is when you want to get him."

    Value
I have to hand it to Babby and Blanks. It looks like they've made good value acquisitions so far. Babby is doing a good job so far of being "fiscally responsible" while still putting together a competitive team. Keep this team competitive now while still being a free agent player tomorrow.

The kiss of death, Steve Kerr's endorsement of the Suns offseason moves. Is it too late to back out of these deals? If Keer thinks its good, bet your left nut it's bad.

You have nothing of value to add, so why do you continue to post? Kerr, for all intents and purposes, was a very good GM for us. I don't care if your opinion is different than mine, but at least support it with some sort of fact or evidence. You do realize we went to the Western Conference finals with him as our GM right? Or were you too busy looking for something to complain about. Go to bed grandpa, you're getting cranky.

    Marshall
Marshall has a LONG way to go. If you saw him in the Summer League last night that was evident and thats just the Summer League, wait until the real games start. I would be surprised if Marshall is anything more than a good backup for his career. As for Beasley, I agree, good move with low risk given his contract and the potential for high reward. I am concerned about playing him out of position on the defensive end. On the offensive end he should get a ton of mismatches

Seriously? Yes, I watched the summer league game. You realize he is coming off an injury and hasnt played competitively in months? You realize that a major function of the PG spot is chemistry, of which he has developed none, and he knows none of his "teammates" (I put that in quotes becuase he wont play with anyone on this team other than Kieff moving forward) tendencies? You realize that he is 20 years old and has played one game in a summer league? Let the kid develop a bit before throwing the towel in on him.

Are you serious? Kerr was a very good GM? So how long have you been smoking crack? What did he do? The Suns are in this position because of him. He couldn't bring in any sort of a replacement for Nash, all he did was run a bunch of retreads thru here hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. He wasn't sharp enough to see that the Suns weren't resigning Amare and we got nothing. The run to the Western Conference championship fell short, but thats how screwed up Suns fans have become, grasping at straws and settling for moral victories. Go to bed? Awake up boy.

Kerr was a very good GM, that has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here.

dont agree with everything that was stated here, but i definitely do not think he was a good gm. People forget his trade that brought Shaq into town. Kerr hired Terry Porter. He made numerous horrible decisions that really crippled the franchise and held us back from who knows what could have been. Because of the way he left and the perception that his leaving was Sarvers fault it has turned him into a martyr. All of his blunders get attributed to Sarver. Its a joke.

The only benefit I felt Shaq was that he was man enough to confront Amare when he turned into little miss priss. I could be that the Shaq thing was calulated and I can live with that but in viewing Sarver and Kerr together I arrive at the fact that in most cases, boobz come in two's.

Mesa you do realize that even after learning his teammates and getting older than his current 20 years as you say he is still going to be unathletic and slow. Not to mention who knows if he will ever be able to improve his shooting. Slow, unathletic and not able to shoot are not going attributes for a PG.
