The Phoenix Suns' search for a shooting guard has apparently come to an end, as they've reached contract terms with free agent Shannon Brown, who spent the 2011-12 season with the team.

According to Arizona Sports 620's own John Gambadoro, the contract is for two years.

Brown, 26, played in 59 of 66 games for the Suns last season, averaging a career-high 11.0 points while grabbing 2.7 rebounds. In 19 games as a starter, Brown averaged 15.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest, while shooting .406 from three-point range.

The Suns were active in their flirtation with free agent shooting guards before re-signing Brown. On July 3, Phoenix inked restricted free agent Eric Gordon to a four- year, $58 million offer sheet that was ultimately matched by the New Orleans Hornets.

Phoenix also hosted former Memphis guard O.J. Mayo for a visit before the four-year veteran ended up signing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Brown was originally a first round pick of the the Cleveland Cavaliers (25th overall) in 2006 after playing three seasons under Tom Izzo at Michigan State. In 2007, Brown was part of a three-team trade that sent him to the Chicago Bulls, where he played in only six games.

In 2008, Brown signed a free agent deal with the Charlotte Bobcats and was promptly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was part of a championship team in 2010.

    bad move
The ball stops when it hits his hands. He is not that great of a shooter & thinks he is the next coming of Melo. Simply not a team player.

    GREAT move
Great player that can score. Although the 620 guys got it wrong, Brown will be the starting SG. IF it is Dudley i can no longer trust the suns organization and will become a lakers fan. Dudley is embarrasin to watch. A solid end of the bench player for sure.

Hopefully they didn't pay him so much that we can't go after a better FA next year...

ugh, hated the signing last year, hate it more today knowing its for 2 years... Brown is a solid bench player for a playoff team, since he provides some instant offense, but for a starting SG on a rebuilding team... please no, and i pray the second year does not derail the Suns from going after Tyreke Evans or James Harden next year.

2 year might not be bad....
because next year it will be attractive as an expiring contract to trade for a good player. Obviously he wanted a long term contract... this is shorter of that, I guess it was a middle ground. I think he can play well when has high level of confidence like most players do. Again, we needed a wing, for the market out there I think it is ok. Also We need to keep in mind despite throwing away last two years, this team is in an actual rebuilding process finally, so I don't expect the team to be great, but to move in the right direction...

    OK
considering what FAs were left out there at shooting guard.Brown's athletic and he got better last year as the season progressed. Stop gap measure only, but he'll do until next season when the Suns make a run for Harden or Evans, or just draft a SG.

Dudley will start as he is a much better fit and smarter. And who cares about your opinion anyway? By YOUR words " IF it is Dudley i can no longer trust the suns organization and will become a lakers fan." Go hop on a bandwagon, you're the worst kind of fan alive.

hopefully he proves everything i have been saying wrong and develops into a consistant offensive threat and doesnt stop the ball movement. Also hope the contract is for 4 million a year or less or the second year is not guarenteed
