The Phoenix Suns' search for a shooting guard has apparently come to an end, as they've reached contract terms with free agent Shannon Brown, who spent the 2011-12 season with the team.

According to Arizona Sports 620's own John Gambadoro, the contract is for two years.

Brown, 26, played in 59 of 66 games for the Suns last season, averaging a career-high 11.0 points while grabbing 2.7 rebounds. In 19 games as a starter, Brown averaged 15.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest, while shooting .406 from three-point range.

The Suns were active in their flirtation with free agent shooting guards before re-signing Brown. On July 3, Phoenix inked restricted free agent Eric Gordon to a four- year, $58 million offer sheet that was ultimately matched by the New Orleans Hornets.

Phoenix also hosted former Memphis guard O.J. Mayo for a visit before the four-year veteran ended up signing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Brown was originally a first round pick of the the Cleveland Cavaliers (25th overall) in 2006 after playing three seasons under Tom Izzo at Michigan State. In 2007, Brown was part of a three-team trade that sent him to the Chicago Bulls, where he played in only six games.

In 2008, Brown signed a free agent deal with the Charlotte Bobcats and was promptly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was part of a championship team in 2010.

    umad cont.
Dudley is a smart and cool guy, i like him, but holy crap he cannot defend a tree. Ill give him credit tho he can box out players his size, and occasionally make a stand still 3 pointer. Shannon Brown is Lebron Freakin James compared to Jared Dudley. If you watch every suns game and bled purple and orange, this would be clear. Lakers bit was a joke.

disagree with that quite a bit. I think Dudley has grown to be a better shooter than Shannon Brown (3 Pt %: 38 vs 36, and he attempted 21 more), and his standard FG% was over 6% higher as well. How much of that was thanks to Nash? Have to wait and see. Defensively, I dont consider either one any better than the other. Browns asset may be that he can get out on the break better, but that does as you said, Dudley will always rebound more (nearly double per game average). All that said though, I do agree Brown will be the starter and Dudley will solidify the bench rotation.

    Filled a Need
This team needed a scorer and in numerous games I watched him show an ability to take it to the rack, or fill it from other spots on the floor. The Suns couldn't rely on anyone else currently on the roster to be a pure scorer, other than Beasley, whom has thus far been nothing but a disappointment in his NBA career. Brown is welcome here.
