With all the wheeling and dealing the Phoenix Suns have done this offseason, it's somewhat surprising how quiet things have been on the Robin Lopez front.

The four-year pro is a restricted free agent who has yet to receive offers from other NBA teams. According to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, that may change soon.

The Hornets were linked to the Suns early Tuesday, but Wojnarowski reported Phoenix was an unwilling trade partner, which was confirmed by Arizona Sports 620's John Gambadoro later.

However, the involvement of Minnesota may net the Suns the compensation they are seeking to part ways with their backup big man.

Johnson, 25, was drafted by the Timberwolves fourth-overall in 2010 out of Syracuse.

A 6-foot-7, 215-pound wing, he is coming off a year where he averaged six points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Though he has not yet proven himself as an NBA player, adding him plus a first round pick -- while unloading Hakim Warrick's contract -- would be a real coup for Phoenix.

Lopez was a first round pick (15th overall) by the Suns in 2008, but has had an inconsistent run in the Valley.

Last season, the 7-footer from Stanford averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in a bench role. For his career, Lopez averages 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest.

    Let him go, don't match
I don't see the point in keeping Robin. I get that he has size, but try to pick up more pieces/draft picks that we can use to move up/trade next year. If anything, don't overpay just to match.

    Trade for Gordon?
Is it possible to trade him for Gordon? If so, I'd do that in a heartbeat!

    Make an offer, Dell Demps
Just like the Hornets made us wait to tell us they would match for Gordon, let's make them wait the full three days to tell them we either will or will not match for Lopez. I just hope they don't match an offer sheet for more than $6M a year.

    interesting
will be interesting to see if this happens. not being in the front office its all just guessing, but i wonder if the suns are asking for more than they would another team because of what happened with the gordon situation. Not sure if the hornets really have much to interest us other than picks. If they could somehow rangle a first rounder for him, I would say its a gigantic victory. Chances of it happening are probably 1 in 100 though. If not, do they take a chance on a player like Xavier Henry who has never really gotten a true shot? Or Darius Miller maybe?

Not possible - once Gordon signed the suns offer sheet, it became impossible for the suns to acquire him in any sort of trade.

    Lopez and Goran
Supposedly Lopez and Dragic are friends. Coincidence maybe, but when Lopez played his best, Dragic was also playing well. While Lopez has been far from his best the last year +, he provides a defensive presence. Those guys aren't easy to get. I wouldn't let him go easily. I haven't a clue what you could get in a sign and trade. What would they have that you would want that they would give up?

    coincidence
i think you are looking at the wrong piece (goran) that helped lopez play better. If you remember, the year lopez showed his potential was when the suns made the western conference finals, when another player (Amare) was manning the court. He took a lot of pressure off Lopez they both benefited each other. This is one of the reasons I always wondered why Gentry didnt at least TRY Lopez and Gortat on the court together for an extended period. Not saying Gortat is Amare, but it would have at least been worth experimenting with.

Robin plays better D than Marcin
AZGBF - Has it right when he spoke of the difficulty in getting a 7-0 post defender. Especially when they are 23 and every1 outside of Phx realizes that centers statistically mature later in their careers. He is mobile, protects the rim, is super young and actually plays D. A lot of haters in this 'town' that seam to like soft ball even when its played on a hardwood floor.

    Re: Mesamadman
Sure Dragic could have got the ball to Lopez in positions where he could score better, but he certainly didn't help block shots, intimidate, and rebound the basketball. Things that Lopez did better over that stretch. Chemistry was really good amongst that 2nd group then. Dragic, Dudley, Lopez and Frye were all part of it. Barbosa played a big role as well but you have 4 out of 5.
