The Phoenix Suns have made a change in the broadcast booth.

The team announced Friday it has hired Steve Albert as the new play-by-play announcer.

Albert will call the action on all Fox Sports Arizona Suns broadcasts.

"We are excited to attract someone with Steve's broadcasting skills, versatility and experience to our organization," said Suns President, Jason Rowley. "Steve's dynamic personality will be a great addition to our broadcast team. His arrival comes at an ideal time, as our team on the court also transitions into a new and exciting era of Suns basketball."

Albert is best known for his work in the boxing arena, as well as for having done play-by-play for the New York Mets, New York Jets, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils.

Albert is replacing longtime Suns broadcaster Tom Leander, who had been the team's TV voice the last nine seasons.

    Leander
Word is that Leander preferred to wear a suit and tie but the Suns wanted him to wear a team polo. Wait... wrong team and wrong broadcaster. Nevermind.....

    Welcome to Phoenix, Steve!
Now can we fire Scott Williams? He sucks. I don't care if he played for us for two years. He also played for a Bulls team who kept us from winning a championship. He shouldn't be affiliated with the Suns in any way.

    Here's a question....
Is the guys a Suns fan? Last thing we need inthis valley is a sports media guy who's favorite team is back east. We got enough of that with Gambo.

    I Just Wonder
If this has something to do with Sutt? Has this guy ever called baseball? Maybe they plan on him doing both; odd timing to say the least.

    I actually liked Leander
He was a local guy who went to high school at Brophy. Did this guy Albert graduate from the UofA? Maybe him and Sarver are drinking buddies. One of the few guys left on the team that I could tie to the past was Leander, so maybe this is good. The new Mediocre Suns sure don't want anything that ties them to their non-mediocre past.
