The Phoenix Suns' facelift continued Friday when Arizona Republic beat writer Paul Coro reported that the team has agreed to terms with veteran free agent big man Jermaine O'Neal.

The 33-year-old O'Neal spent the last two seasons with the Boston Celtics, averaging just over five points per contest.

The six-time All-Star spent his best seasons with the Indiana Pacers, where he averaged 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

O'Neal should fill the gap at the backup center position for the Suns. Last year's backup, Robin Lopez, was traded to the New Orleans Hornets last month.

    Hmmm
Jermaine isnt too old, just broken. If the Suns training staff gets him healthy and keeps him there, ala Grant Hill, he is a solid player. Just good enough to make sure the Suns cant draft an impact player to rebuild around. C'mon Suns. Pick a plan and go all the way with it.

    Seriously, though
A nice pick-up as your backup center. The Suns continue to fill their roster with solid players. All they are missing is a true star to be their center piece, which is who they've positioned themselves to acquire during the season or next off-season. Things are looking up.

    I'm eating my own words.
A couple months ago i blasted Babby and Sarver for dimwitted moves in recent years but with recent acquisitions this offseason, i have come to eat my own words. PROPS to Sarver for allowing Lon and Lance to spend their money wisely this offseason. Now we are just a couple of pieces away from being a true contender. Can not wait to see the new talents this year! (STILL CANT BELIEVE I GAVE SARVER PROPS) -_-

    Old and injury prone but...
His numbers were solid last season. He averaged 5+ points, 5+ boards, and 1.7 blocks in about 22 minutes per game. Based on his stats, it seems that he could provide some solid production as a backup...just don't expect him to put up 20 and 10 like he did during his prime.

    I agree with HIGHrolla
Right now OKC and The Lakers will be the powers in the West. We just need to continue to re-build and eventually get 1 or 2 true stars when the time is right in the future. Kudos to the Suns for picking up some quality talent this summer. I'm not sure if we'll make the playoffs next season but I think the team will fight and be entertaining. Scola, Dragic, Gortat and Dudley are going to play tough. Beasley is the x-factor.

Michael Beasley said hes gonna be an all star this year so theres one star... now we need 1 more. Depending on how good he actually does, might attract a free agent all star next FA.

    Valley fans
Glad to see the support for the front office from Valley fans. Look, we can all agree we aren't contenders, but you have to like the team they are going to roll out next year. Of course, I'm not sure how the chemistry will mesh, but on paper I like what I see. I'm a big believer in the Suns training staff (who isn't by this point?) and I think they'll be able to at least keep Jermaine healthy. Everything I've heard about him around the league is that he's looks as good as he ever has. I like him much more than Robin.

    It'll be interesting
I think it will be a fun team to watch. Will they win it all? I am gonna go out on a limb and say no, but they should be fun to watch, and really, isn't that what we want as fans? There can only be one champion, but as long as the product on the court is interesting and fun to watch, I will keep watching. I have been a lifelong Suns fan, and there have been some pretty bad years, but I think this one will not be ranked among the worst when all is said and done...
