If things weren't looking up for the Phoenix Suns before, they sure aren't now.

At least, that's how ESPN writers Chad Ford and John Hollinger feel.

In an ESPN Insider piece titled Future Power Rankings, the Suns come in ahead of only the Charlotte Bobcats when it comes to projection for the next few years after this one.

The rankings are based on a compilation of four categories, including players (28th), management (29th), money (12th), market (9th) and draft (4th).

The signings of Goran Dragic, Luis Scola and Michael Beasley, as well as the trade for Wesley Johnson are all commended, and it's noted that Marcin Gortat, Markieff Morris and Kendall Marshall are solid pieces, too.

Still, the writers feel only Charlotte and Orlando are worse when it comes to players, which is what their commentary focused on.

We're pinning much of the blame on owner Robert Sarver. He's the worst type of owner -- both a spendthrift and a meddler who doesn't really know basketball. It's virtually impossible for us to rate the job GM Lon Babby has done because of Sarver's influence on basketball decisions.

At least, the story notes, the Suns have quite a few picks coming their way -- including their own, which they speculate will be early in the 2013 draft.

    Who?
Chad Ford and John Hollinger 2 guys who have never played the game yet consider themselves experts. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. What makes theirs anymore valuable is a great question. Wouldn't shock me if this team got an 8th seed. A number of players would have to have really good years, but it is probably just as accurate as these guy's assessments

    Can you really blame them?
I don't think they have the second worst future in the entire NBA, but with $arver's track record and with him running the show, can you really blame these guys for doubting the Suns?

Gotta love the idea that you have to have played the game to be an expert. How ridiculous. You might not consider Ford or Hollinger experts, but I'm guessing you might want to look at both of their resume's (it's called Google) before you question their knowledge. Then again, maybe you're right - cause I certainly didn't need either of these guys to tell me that Robert Sarver has ruined this franchise. That's been obvious for a while now - even to those of us who can't be experts cause we never played the game. LOL.

    Never a focus on basketball
Let's see the only sports owner in Phoenix who needed to comment on illegal immigrants and then allow his GM to announce that he is gay. This owner focuses on everything but winning a championship. Sad to say but maybe we look to a foreign owner like the Nets who is looking to build a NBA championship team

    That's Fair
It shouldn't be out of the question that this organization has tail-spinned out of the NBA's elite, but this is purely speculation and the game is played on the court, not on paper. Unfortunately though, it is difficult to imagine this team making any kind of run other than to the draft lottery for years to come.

    Sarver
Suns fans have known that Sarver was a loser when he asked Steve Kerr to take a pay cut as manager. Steve knew more about basketball and basketball personnel than Sarver will ever understand. Although Phoenix has always supported the Sun's their rapid drive to mediocrity and their loss of their only star quality players will guarantee a lot of empty seats at the arena. In truth they are becoming irrelevant to the sports scene in Phoenix and the NBA. My season tickets are long gone and I doubt I will be following a mediocre team.

    steve kerr
steve kerr made the moves that sunk this franchise. he left us with no talent, no depth, an aging roster, and a amare wanting a max contract. It was a mess. Sarver didnt help with his crappy contracts he handed out, but Kerr sunk this franchise just as much as Sarver. For that matter, so did Dantoni when he was managing. No one ever had the foresight to look into the future.

    I'm no expert
But i did play ball so i guess I'm more an expert than these guys *rolls eyes*...The suns are in for a rough couple of years and unless they make some good moves are going to have to rely on unpredictable talent to emerge, I'm crossing my fingers. On the bright side you'll be able to buy tickets at a very low price for the next few years :-/

    D'Antoni
was the devil. He told Sarver he could draft guys if he wanted, but he wouldn't play them. His 6.5 man rotation kept FA's away. Why did so many people love that guy? Personally I'd say the front office did as well as they possibly could have in the draft and FA this offseason.
