You could likely count the number of analysts who think the Phoenix Suns had a great offseason on one hand.

Still, while few would argue that the Suns had a disastrous summer, it's tough to figure losing Steve Nash and Grant Hill, among others, and replacing them with Goran Dragic, Michael Beasley and Luis Scola makes the Suns a better team.

That must be what CBSSports.com writer Matt Moore thought when he penned a piece going over every team's offseason.

Ranking the Suns 23rd of the NBA's 30 teams, Moore pans pretty much every move the Suns made.

Anytime you can pay $6 million a year to a guy who Rick Adelman couldn't get through to and pick up the tab on Luis Scola after a year he really started to show his age, and then splurge on Goran Dragic, banking on his ability to mesh with Marcin Gortat to develop a deadly combination... you know how this joke goes.

We don't know how the joke goes, but we're guessing the punchline isn't going to lead to much laughter for Suns fans.

To be fair, this criticism is a little harsh. While the Suns traded veteran big names for players they hope are on the rise, it's fair to wonder if they really had much of a choice.

Besides, there's no reason Dragic and Beasley can't play well, and while Scola isn't what he used to be, he can still be an effective player.

what qualifies one as a "writer" vs an "insider"? Does it have to do with the company they work for?

We are going to be bad this year. Top 5 pick next year (Hopefully Mohammed) and signing Mr. Harden will help.

I don't think this team will win an NBA championship this season, but they're a deep bunch. Much of their success will depend on their ability to put egos aside and play together. I think they will do far better than the critics have predicted. Many of their new additions have something to prove, they've been written off and have been working hard this off season to prove the critics wrong. This team will make the playoffs and I'd like to see them make one more move either before or during the season trading for the likes of Evans or Harden.

There are some people who's opinion is worth listening to. Guys like Magic Johnson, Kenny Smith, Barkley, Jalen Rose, Collins, Van Gundy, Hubie Brown and Reggie Miller and then you get this twit. When did he play? Who did he coach? He may be right but what experience is he basing his opinion on. Van Gundy says something and you listen. This guy says something and you say who?

Adam, being a sports writer myself, (it's a small paying gig) I gotta say, this had to be the dumbest article you've written. They did little to improve? They dug themselves out from under contracts, dealt some dead weight and most of all, reversed the direction of this franchise because with Nash and Hill, we were dead in the water and nobody wanted to come here. But dumping Nash and now landing alot of draft picks puts us in position to rebuild this franchise for greatness. Yeah, we may not win alot of ggames this year but we now have a future and that's worth something.

No decent free agents wants to go to a project, the Suns were a project with Nash and Hill. NBA players will not go to a team that is worse then the one they're leaving. Now we have youth and a solid bench with some decent starters. We need some pieces now, not a full squad and a savior to boot. I wasn't the biggest Sarver fan but I respect what he's done. I didn't think he had it in him, especially after the way Steve Kerr wrecked this team.

I don't agree with most of your comments but I totally agree with you here. When the suns sign high priced players to catch lighting in a bottle, trying to improve or stay competitive, they get trashed for doing it. Then when they set themselves up to rebuild, they still get trashed. Rebuilding means you're probably going to be bad. I'm okay with that as long as they show that they have a good plan in place.

that this group of scrappers has a chance to compete and do well. There are some good players within this group and there will be some surprises coming. We hope so anyway. No one seems to be giving Dragic any credit and I believe he will do very well here after his tenure was completed. He might even be able to lead well and make plays happen.

Some sportswriter is panning the Suns moves? Before I take his opinion seriously, I need to know a few things. How many Rockets games did he break down from last year? How many Timbereolves games did he break down and study? How about the number of Suns games? Does he know the financial mountain they dug themselves out from under? Does he realize that Hill and Nash are ancient in terms of basketball?.

The Suns are in the first year of rebuilding for the future. OF COURSE they're not going to start out with a Kevin Durant type of FA. There's a reason it's called a "rebuilding process". Also, the moves the Suns made are absolutely LOADED with star potential. You can't tell me that if Beasley, Johnson and Dragic reach their potential, the Suns aren't contenders. Quit panning moves on a headline. Do your homework and dig deeper, Moore
