When the Phoenix Suns selected Kendall Marshall with the 13th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the hope was his pass-first mentality and basketball smarts would make an impact on the team.

They still might, but it's not going to be anytime soon.

The Suns have assigned the former North Carolina star to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League. He'll be accompanied there by Suns Player Development Coordinator Lindsey Hunter.

The move was announced Thursday afternoon.

Marshall appeared in six games for the Suns and averaged 1.2 points to go along with 0.8 assists.

He saw his most significant action of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Pistons, where he played 16 minutes and scored seven points.

    A lot of people were wrong on KM including me. He looked scared straight the second he walked on a pro court. Really shows the difference between the college game and the pro game in talent.

    A pretty raw one at that. There arent a lot of pure point guards that come into the league and dominate out of the gate. It is going to take him time to adjust, learn the offense and defense styles. I think the development in the D-League will help out a lot. With Dragic and the dedication to Telfair this year, he wont see much of any time on the court.

    Marcus Morris was assigned to the D-League for Houston last season, this season he has been a solid contributor thus far. Hopefully, Marshall will benefit as well.

    Don't forget Nash averaged 10.5 MPG and 3.3 PPG his rookie season, and he was backing up Jason Kidd, Kevin Johnson, and even Sam Cassell for a little bit. I'm not saying Kendall Marshall is the next Steve Nash, I'm just saying it even took a two-time MVP time to adjust.

    Well that was a complete waste of a draft pick. Kendall Marshall was drafter in the 1st half of the 1st round for a reason... He HAS the ability to play at the NBA level. I think this is a horrible move and is ONLY going to hurt his confidence going forward, NOT help it. But I shouldn't be surprised. After all Robet Sarver (the next coming of Donald Sterling) is our owner. HORRIBLE MOVE!!!
