There are a lot of new faces on the Phoenix Suns' roster this season, but the team's overhaul hasn't led to many victories.

The Suns sit at 12-23, the second-worst record in the Western Conference and 7.5 games out of the final playoff spot.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the team is tinkering with even more change.

Wojnarowski wrote Tuesday morning that the Suns are engaged in talks with the Memphis Grizzlies about forward Rudy Gay.

There's no framework of a possible deal in place, but the Grizzlies have expressed a strong desire that any package involving Gay include Suns forward Jared Dudley and future first-round draft picks, sources said.

Gay, who is averaging 17.8 points for the Grizzlies this season, has two years remaining on his contract after this season, which will pay him over $37 million. He is making $16.4 million this season.

But as Wojnarowski points out, the Suns do have plenty of first round draft picks in future years, having acquired two of them from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Steve Nash deal last summer.

Gay, 26, was a first round draft pick (eighth overall) out of Connecticut by the Houston Rockets in 2006, but was later traded to the Grizzlies in a deal for Shane Battier. Gay has averaged 17.9 points per game over his seven-year NBA career.

Despite leading Memphis in scoring this season, his per game output is the lowest since his rookie season when he averaged 10.8 points per contest.

    Seriously though
I dont like it. Rudy Gay is a "star", but Jared Dudley always finds ways to contribute, brings energy and attitude and the fans love him. Maybe he makes us better right now, but he is not happy being 2nd to Zach Randolph and is not good enough to be a #1 star for a contender. DANGER - Jared Dudley wants to win basketball games - Rudy Gay wants a better market and showcase. PRESERVE CAP SPACE!!!

    mixed feelings
On the one hand, the suns really need those draft picks and need to get younger. They are notorious for looking for the "quick fix" instead of taking their time and bringing in young talent through the draft to develop. On the other hand, this team right now is really a bad mix. They have a bunch of role players and no star. Nobody on this team can create their own shot in crunch time (which is why you see them consistently lose games down the stretch even when they are close). If they don't give up too much, this could be a good option.

Not a chance. He's the only reason I still watch.

The Grizzlies sure like giving up their stars don't they? Pau Gasol, OJ Mayo, and now Rudy Gay--all for basically nothing. The Suns better not give up their first round pick for this year, though. Give them the Lakers' pick, but not their own pick.

    Rudy Gay
All depends on what we have to give up. I wouldnt say our draft pick is even untouchable. What are the odds that our pick (Id guess probably in the 5-10 range) is going to be a player that ends up being better than Rudy? Probably not very high - especially with our recent luck in drafts. He makes Phoenix 1000x more attractive to potential free agents as well

    Must get done
Do it.. don't even think twice about it. The suns offense is basically unwatchable this season. Need a go to scorer. Love Dudley, but he can never be that type of player.

    Dudley? Fine with me
I'm fine with trading Dudley, seems like he's plateaued. But don't trade any picks away including the lakers or 2nd rounders. Build through the draft then trade for guys like Rudy Gay.
