There are a lot of new faces on the Phoenix Suns' roster this season, but the team's overhaul hasn't led to many victories.

The Suns sit at 12-23, the second-worst record in the Western Conference and 7.5 games out of the final playoff spot.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the team is tinkering with even more change.

Wojnarowski wrote Tuesday morning that the Suns are engaged in talks with the Memphis Grizzlies about forward Rudy Gay.

There's no framework of a possible deal in place, but the Grizzlies have expressed a strong desire that any package involving Gay include Suns forward Jared Dudley and future first-round draft picks, sources said.

Gay, who is averaging 17.8 points for the Grizzlies this season, has two years remaining on his contract after this season, which will pay him over $37 million. He is making $16.4 million this season.

But as Wojnarowski points out, the Suns do have plenty of first round draft picks in future years, having acquired two of them from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Steve Nash deal last summer.

Gay, 26, was a first round draft pick (eighth overall) out of Connecticut by the Houston Rockets in 2006, but was later traded to the Grizzlies in a deal for Shane Battier. Gay has averaged 17.9 points per game over his seven-year NBA career.

Despite leading Memphis in scoring this season, his per game output is the lowest since his rookie season when he averaged 10.8 points per contest.

    We are in need
of a "star" to be our centerpiece. Rudy could fit the bill. Would hate to see Dudley go, but it'd be an upgrade for the Suns.I hope if the Suns part with a draft pick, that its one of the Laker picks, and its lottery, or at least top 5 protected.

    un-real
Moves like this makes us a laughing stock of the NBA. Teams are lining up to trade with the SUNS to un-load there ridiculously over-paid players that we love for some reason(Micahel Beasly, Wesley Johnson, Hedo Tukulo, Josh Childress, Hakim Warrick). WORST FRONT OFFICE IN THE LEAGUE. That's why i've stopped watching.

    Do it
People talk like these draft pics are gold. Not true! Suns are looking at 5th pic. If you go back to 2002 only 2 really good players. Dwayne Wade and Kevin Love. Last time I looked Love hasn't lead his team to anything and he has spent a lot of time on the injured list. 2 out of 11 not very good odds. Rest of the list is terrible. The players drafted early today are 19 and 20 year olds and are not ready for the NBA for 3 or 4 years. If you look at this years mock draft the people around 5 6 and 7 are guys I never heard of.

    Thia could be good
I like J.D. a lot, but the Suns need a guy who can put the ball in the hoop during crunch time and Rudy Gay can certainly do that.

    Well?
I like Dudley alot but the bottom line is that this team has on offensive threat that strikes fear into our opponents. Somebody's gotta go, our focus should be the upcoming draft and our 5 picks. If we can get Gay without giving up draft picks this coming year then do it

    DRAFT PICKS
Do you guys realize that we received 2 first round picks from the Lakers in the Nash trade? Why not send one of those with Dudley for Gay. Not only will we still keep the lottery pick we get this offseason, but we bring a legitimate all-star caliber player to the valley. I think that move would bring so much more legitimacy and appeal to other players around the league. Pull the trigger! I also think it would be smart to maybe try to pull a player like Bayless as well. Even if that means sending a role player on the team. Too bad they wouldn't take Beasley off our hands!

    Keep this year's Lakers pick
the way they are playing, there is a very real chance that it could be another lottery pick. That would give us 2 top 14 picks, one that could be in the 4-10 range and another likely in the 11-14 range. Plus, that increases our chances of landing the #1 overall pick in the lottery. Trade Dudley, next year's 1st rounder, and whatever 2nd rounders needed to be thrown in to get the deal done.
