Suns’ Telfair excited about homecoming

There is something special about being able to play in the city you grew up in.

Sebastian Telfair will be afforded that opportunity Friday when the Suns visit the Brooklyn Nets for the first time since the Nets’ move from New Jersey.

“It’s definitely special. I can’t downplay it at all,” he said. “I’m excited about it. It’s my hometown.”

Telfair is a veteran of nine NBA seasons so he has played several times in New York, where the Knicks call Madison Square Garden home.

“Of course playing in the Garden is one thing,” he said, “but actually playing in the borough that I’m from which is Brooklyn, it’s going to be special to me and a lot of people that watched me come up coming from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn (to) playing in the pros.

“It’s going to be a pretty cool game.”

What’s not going to be cool is finding enough tickets to satisfy all his friends and family.

“I kept my requests down for the Garden game so I know I was going to have to get a couple of tickets for this game,” Telfair said.

“I’m going to take this experience and enjoy it as much as possible.”
