The Phoenix Suns coaching staff continues to change, as Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro tweeted Monday night.

Majerle, who played eight seasons with the Suns and is one of the most popular players in franchise history, became an assistant coach in 2008 and guided the Suns summer league teams in Las Vegas for four seasons.

Majerle's status was up in the air after the Suns fired head coach Alvin Gentry Friday and named player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter as the interim coach Sunday -- bypassing both Majerle and Elston Turner, who has 14 years of assistant coaching experience in the NBA.

Majerle will be paid in full for the rest of the season.

The team was also planning a Dan Majerle Fathead promotional giveaway for the January 30 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but that is now in doubt due to Majerle's departure.

Hunter will make his debut on the Suns bench Wednesday night in Sacramento against the Kings.

    Dan
I like Dan Majerie as much as anyone but I don't see him as a Head Coach on this team. A number of times before the games started and the two announcers were on the floor before the games I would see Dan come up behind them and clown around. Having fun is one thing but based on what I saw when he would do this he did not seem to be taking things serious enough to be considered for Head Coach.

There is probably only one way to make the point to management, and that would be to not buy what Sarver is selling. What are the chances that Suns fans would talk with their feet and their wallets and start boycotting games? This situation would have been handled completely differently under the Colangelo management. Sarver is simply a hamhanded bonehead and doesn't deserve any fan support whatsoever.

    Disappointing
to see Majerle go. He was a good coach and beloved in the community.I thought he'd be a good fit for the new head coach, and I thought the FO might choose Majerle to try to generate some buzz for the rest of the season.Looks like this is the beginning of the blow- up of the re-build. Expect more changes before the trade deadline.

    If Sarver
is the business man-first owner that we all think he is, he's probably already exploring ways to sell this team.

    Screw Babby/Blanks/Sarver
I agree with everyone in this string. What these clowns have done with our proud franchise is embarrassing. Lindsey Hunter is a puppet, so glad upper mismanagement has the teams goals first. Hunter was not the best move for this team, it was the best move for controlling hands to make sure the new coach doesn't deviate from this master plan of driving the Suns brand down. I will never attend another game while these 3 morons are running the team

    Robert Sarver
Suns had hundreds of sellouts in a row. Then a few years ago Sarver makes Suns basketball political by coming out against senate bill 1070. Some season ticket holders did not renew cause of this. He still is making or letting bad decisions happen with his team.

So there is no room at all for Thunder Dan- Really- He is a winner and a fighter who Charles Barkley said " I want him on my team" Is it any wonder the Suns are where the are - No where near the Suns when Colangelo ran it

I moved here when I was 9 years old and have been a die hard since those days of Truck Robinson, Kyle Macy and etc. etc etc. A die hard fan through the drug years with Walter Davis and co. Through lean years good years. All I can say is this current organization is not one that I recognize at all as being the PHX Suns I know and love.
