The Phoenix Suns coaching staff continues to change, as Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro tweeted Monday night.

Majerle, who played eight seasons with the Suns and is one of the most popular players in franchise history, became an assistant coach in 2008 and guided the Suns summer league teams in Las Vegas for four seasons.

Majerle's status was up in the air after the Suns fired head coach Alvin Gentry Friday and named player development coordinator Lindsey Hunter as the interim coach Sunday -- bypassing both Majerle and Elston Turner, who has 14 years of assistant coaching experience in the NBA.

Majerle will be paid in full for the rest of the season.

The team was also planning a Dan Majerle Fathead promotional giveaway for the January 30 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but that is now in doubt due to Majerle's departure.

Hunter will make his debut on the Suns bench Wednesday night in Sacramento against the Kings.

    As a fan, I feel zero 'connection' with Sarver and the administration making decisions. I have no bond to this team. Not b/c they are losing, I've been through that, but b/c they are now foreign to me. This is not Jerry team any longer. Jerry's teams always felt like our teams, win or lose. This organization is faceless, nameless, directionless, lifeless. It's sad, it really is.

    by Brian Colangelo and was traded for a piece of crap named John "Hot Rod" Williams. Which is also one of the things that pissed off Barkley the most, and made him trash the ownership on NBC, which ultimately led to him being traded. Luckily, Majerle didn't hold any grudges, as he came back later as a player, then commentator, and lastly as an assistant. Sarver screwed over Cedric Ceballos too, as did the Colangelos. So while it's not surprising, it still sucks to see happen.

    Have been a Suns fan since the beginning.....Will Al McCoy be next to be let go??? Robert Sarver, this team has gone down hill since Jerry sold you the team!! This is also the end....No more support from me unless you apologize for this past 2 weeks and undo the horrible mess...We need a new president a new beginning and probably a new owner...I have been here but I am ashamed...Alvin..Dan..Thank you for everything.....Robert...you ruined a great franchise!! Look out Mr. McCoy.....You are probably next!!!

    Does anyone in the front office know what kind of fan base the Suns have/had? This is a team that has loyal fans from the Purple Palace days! In spite of being the 6th largest city in the US, we have managed to keep a small time feel for our NBA team. It is a shame that in a short time, the front office has managed to tear apart what was a strong legacy. I pity the players that are still around who were exposed to such dedication because it is no longer apparent. This is a sad day for all of us!

    January 30th the crowd needs to chant "Majerle, Majerle, Majerle" non-stop. This is the first year I have no plans to see the Suns. I have so many awesome memories of Thunder Dan from the madhouse when the team would walk into the arena and Dan would stop for autographs to his last three pointer and push-ups. Come back Colangelo.

    Sarver has ruined the Suns similar to Frank McCourts work on the Dodgers. Time to bring Colangelo back. I've been a LOYAL fan since the begining, and this is their biggest stink. Here's hoping US Airways flies out Babby, Blanks, and Sarver from the Valley.

    way to get Sarver's attention. His pocketbook. Quit supporting anything about the Suns. Don't buy merchandise or go to the games or anything. Don't show up for player promotions at any of the stores in the valley either. Let's force Sarver to sell the team to someone that has brains. What a joke this team and organization has become. Good luck Dan, you are better off out of here.

    It's coming, guys. Sarver's gonna move the team. No one intentionally does this much to alienate and anger their fanbase unless they have ulterior motives. The more disconnected the fanbase is, the easier the team is to move. Hating Sarver plays right into his hands.
