listen Listen: Chris Broussard - NBA Trade Deadline
ESPN NBA Analyst Chris Broussard looks at the up coming trade deadline

The Phoenix Suns may have a big deal up their sleeve, after all.

Yahoo Sports NBA columnist Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted the Suns could make a push for Atlanta Hawks' forward Josh Smith.

Smith can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and desires a max contract, making him an attractive trade candidate for the Hawks at the deadline.

The 27-year-old averaged 18.8 points and 9.6 rebounds last season, both of which were career-highs.

Smith is currently the Hawks' leading scorer, averaging 17.4 points and 8.6 rebounds this season.

    No Way
Trading for this guy is not smart, but if they are even considering giving him a max contract... that would be insanity.

    Every Year
there are good players available. Making a trade now and perhaps putting the team in a position to not get a top 5 pick would be a huge blunder. Timing is everything unless you are part of the management of this pathetic team.

    Smith means Dwight
It's been reported that Josh Smith and Dwight Howard want to play together. So, if there is any interest in Smith, it's probably in an attempt to sign Howard this summer. PG- Dragic SG- ??? SF- Beasley PF- Smith C- Howard In my opinion, still not enough. Trade all players for picks if possible and try to sign JJ Hickson.

    trade
Their is no trade the Suns can do to Jeopardize the Suns draft order. If they do trade for Josh Smith they will have holes everywhere, because they have to give up some high priced players and 1st round draft picks to get him. Why would you trade for Josh Smith he is a free agent next year that wants a max contract. Is 17 pts per game 8 rebounds and 3 turnovers a game worth max money?

    Why?
Getting Josh Smith now makes zero sense. Maybe we should've made a strong push for him in the Summer of 2010, instead of signing Warrick, Childress, and Turkoglu.

...of all these people bad mouthing the organization. Haven't you learned already? They don't give a rats @55 about your opinion, they will do whatever they think is necessary for the good of the team and the organization. Frankly I'm happy they are doing that and I'm a big fan! This move would definitely be to get more butts in the seats. Sarver is probably feeling the pinch in his wallet. None the less, so what, it's his team his life and he's gonna do what he wants. Stop bad mouthing the Suns and take what you get you babies!!

    Amare
This reminds me a lot of the "Amare situation" from a few years ago. Right before F/A, a team tries to get something before he leaves for nothing (Imagine if the Suns would have traded for Curry...). In the end, New York was burned more that Phoenix. So whether its a trade, or F/A signing, I hope the Suns stay clear of J-Smoove.
