D-backs' Hall not heading West to L.A.

Buried towards the end of a fantastic story about Derrick Hall and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Yahoo.com was a little nugget about the future of the team's president and CEO.

His approach fosters the culture the United Nations recognized in giving the inaugural Positive Peace Award for a sports team to the Diamondbacks. It's why MLB has Hall on its short list of candidates to replace Selig when he retires, perhaps as soon as 2014. It's why several of the groups seeking to purchase the Dodgers have contacted Hall to become the CEO should their bid win.

It's understandable that other teams would like to bring Hall on board, as the guy has done a great job transforming the D-backs from one of the worst-run organizations in sports to one of the best.

Add in Hall's ties to the Dodgers -- he spent 12 years in various roles with the organization -- and it would be understandable if he had an interest in returning once the ownership situation was settled.

Well, no dice.

Turns out Hall would not be interested in leaving Arizona, and it's tough to blame him. Along with being one of the most envied sports organizations when it comes to how they function off the field, the team on the field is poised to be successful for many years to come.

And, it would seem, Hall wants to be a part of it.

Derrick Hall leaving would be a really bad thing! And I'm quite relieved to hear that he has no interest in leaving!! Whew!! That was a close one. He is by far one of the best, if not THE best leadership figure in professional sports today. I've told him in the d-back chat room when they do that, "that I can only hope to be half the man you are Derrick". He was gracious and said "thanks" of course. I mean it!

Please give Derrick Hall a nice pay increase, the dude deserves it! Also give him a small ownership stake with the team so that this guy remains in AZ for many years to come! He is the reason we are relevant again! Kudos to you Mr Hall! God bless you sir!
